Just bought my first Guitar 3 days ago (started late in life (49) playing the 4 string Plectrum BANJO) a few years ago...

Seems I wanted to play accoustic guitar (family complains about the VOLUME of my Banjo Axe) so I am trying to mellow them out with an acoustic guitar...

Anyway back to the issue at hand... The CCo26 is listed on ALL the websites I found (including factory Ovation site) as DEEP BOWL...

Well I am the proud owner of a MID-DEPTH CC026 !!!

After a couple of calls to the factory they told me they ran out of DEEP bowls. They wanted to make the transiton to Mid-depth bowls (presumeably on a model year) but opted to make them NOW... Guitar Center are the first to get any quantity so there will be BOTH out there !!!

The depth on a DEEP is 5-3/4" and a Mid is 5-1/4"
Factory guy said mid depth will become more popular with more people as it's only 1/2" difference, but we both agreed the purist will still want the DEEP for max, acoustic, sound...

I started out looking at the shallow, bowls because my openback (banjo) is way smaller than ANY ovation... I knew that the "middie" would give much richer sound and didn't plan on plugging in as a normal playing mode, just yet... (allthough there's a borrowed amp in my living room, as I couldn't resist the temptation to "Plug it in...") By the way family likes the sound!!!

This all will be modified to a 4 string in C Tuning within a few days, to match my Banjo tuning, but that's another story... Til then...

Welcome, you're going to change the Celibicy to a 4 string C tuning? Let us know how that works out for you.

Be careful, there are a few banjo bashers out here. Of course, there are celebrity bashers too. Your plans may put a smile on faces for several reasons!

Although I have taken pot shots at Banjo humor (oxymoron?) in the past it has all been in fun.

I would caution anyone before they change out their instrument and turn it into something it wasn't meant to be. Have seen 12 string guitar tuned banjos as well as the 4, 5 & 6 strings. There's a Mandocello with 4 sets of doubles on it. Many things are offered.

There has even been a wave of Ukelele purchases sweeping across these posts.

Either way welcome and we are here to sympathize, educate and amuse.
