We lost a great one today. As we all love music, in all its forms, it is sad to see Ray leave us.

Anyone who can sit still & listen to Ray Charles must have a missing gene. He had a lot of fun while he was here & he shared it with all of us, I hope he can finally see.

A musical giant in every type of music he played and he played a little of everything. Lot of giants leaving us lately and he sure is one of the tallest.

Really sad news.

Interesting, to me, is that about a month ago, out of nowhere, I heard some Ray on the radio, and thought, "I really dig this guy's stuff every time I hear it, why don't have any of his cds?" So, I bought a couple, and of course, I love them.

Really poor timing on my part, I suppose. Won't be seeing him play live.

Still, he left a brilliant legacy of music.

I heard that before his decline/death he had been recording a new cd of Duets with the likes of Nora Jones, et al and it will be released this Summer or Fall... look for it!

Last night Michael McDonald was at a cermony at the Songwriters Hall of Fame here in NYC and said that Ray had always been a huge influence on him and was one of his heroes. He then pulled out his digital camera and said that he still has pics in it of the two of them playing together recently (I suppose for the aforementioned "duets" project).

Like John, I never bought any of his CD's, but always LOVED his stuff.

GREAT Voice!!

THANX, Ray.

"America" will never sound the same.

Rest in Peace.

Norse(He is one guy who always sang from the heart. I've never heard him sing, just to sing. It didn't matter if it was a comedy show or a commercial. Ray Charles oooozed soul)man1

As my tribute to Ray Charles I listened to Jerry Garcia doing "that lucky old sun".
