Over my lunch break, I stopped at a garage sale. Bought me a vintage GE record player console (immaculate shape). The lady had 2 vintage Glen Campbell albums as well.

$10.00. for the console
.50 each for the records

I suppose you guys already knew I would be too cheap to actually buy 2 quality guitars, at the same time no less.

Actually I'm excited about the console. It is just like the one my parents had when I was growing up (until I set it on fire when I was 14, smoking cigarettes, and refilling my zippo when my parent's weren't home...but that's another story  ).

Little Norsey says...."It's about time you replaced your parent's stereo console!!" :D

He also told me some other things too...but that's another story also!!

What good is reminiscing if there isn't a little guilt mixed in!

It's a bit of a family tradition Cliff.

My little brother burnt up a 55 Chev. my brother-in-law was restoring... Once again, smokin, playin with matches.

Watching the carnage that was wreaked upon my little brother's hide, became the first lesson I learned on how smoking is definitely bad for your health!

Norse, speaking of old glen campbell records...I wonder who has the original studio master of the Live '69 New Jersey concert? (capitol records maybe?)....I would love to hear it remastered on CD...some slick guitar solos on that album...

I actually SAW GC play at the Garden State Arts Center. I grew up in Belmar, about 35 miles farther south. This was not the '69 concert that they made the record at. He came back and played there in July of '71. Jose Feliciano was the warm up act. I was hoping like hell they would play together, but they didn't. I don't remember all that much about the show, except that I hated it when GC would put his guitar down and perform only vocals like some stupid Las Vegas act. I sat way back on the grass and couldn't see his guitars all that well. But 1 month later I got my first Ovation, so I guess I was impressed. I've still got the ticket stub somewhere. $4.50 admission. That was about 1/100th the price of a top-of-the line Ovation at that time. By todays standards, where a concert ticket costs $75. I guess that would mean that a top of the line Ovation should cost $7,500 ??? WOW, the OFC guitar is starting to sound like a BARGIN.

I'm a little jealous, Norsey, I've got hundreds of record album and not one working record player.

LPs.
That's an arena of accumulation I have had to make a decision not to delve in. The availability of records at garage sales and shops coupled with the amount of storage needed would encroach on my quota of guy crap I can stow and still be considered part of my family!

Just say no!

Besides, reminds me of my first girlfriend:

33, 45, 78

Had a HUGE (very ecclectic) collection of LP's.

. . . I won't go go into the sordid details, but it had something to do with the woman who was the Maid of Honor at our wedding (albeit 20-odd years later)

All things considered, at least there weren't any of my major organs being offered at the garage sale . . . . .

. . . . . what does a "spleen" DO any way???

Dave:
Garden State Art Center is still alive and well (although now it's the "PNC BANK Arts Center".

Going to see CS&N there in August . . .

I've only got one major organ, and unfortuneatly, it's in a minor key.
