Anybody? Needs a little bit of a tweak and can't come up with the right truss rod wrench for this old Balladeer.

Thanks,
Jon V.

Hi,

Thanks, but any other thoughts? Tried a quarter inch but it doesn't work.

Regards,
Jon

If a quarter inch wrench won't fit it somebody has screwed it up. The factory wrench I got with my 2003 Elite is quarter inch & it fits my Custom Balladeer perfectly. The Celebrities are 5mm.

Hi,

I don't know - this is an older model - got it from Tony C. about a month ago - very nice instrument - but the 1/4" will not work. I am wondering if the older models started off with something other than 1/4."

Thanks,
Jon

I would be really surprised if it was a different size Jon. Afaik they were all the same. Mine is an '85, what year is yours? Does the hole seem to be too large or too small? Can you get a look at it to see if it's damaged?
Btw, I like that blue Viper of yours, very nice looking guitar.

4861 Balladeer, ser # 398626, was made in 1989. 4861 denotes a Korean made, with no trc. From what I have been told, the Balladeer was made for six months in Korea.

Hi,

Looks like it may be damaged - have to wait until Monday and I'll take it in with me to the studio and get a better look. Meanwhile, added a shim and that solved the little bit of buzzing that I was getting.

The Viper is special - no doubt. It is a beauty. I used it today to back up a 15 year old kid with a voice like Joe Nichols - country singer. Wierd to see this young guy with this amazing baritone coming out of him. He did a nice job.

Thanks for your help,
Jon

Tony,

This one is a Korean made. Do you remember ever adjusting the truss rod?

Thanks,
Jon

Aha! The Korean made Celebrity I had took a 5mm wrench, maybe this one does too.

If a 5mm don't work, try a 4mm. Those are the two sizes I've come across.

Jon, the guitar was purchased on 5/20/03 from a 4th generation musician and teacher in Sacramento (Evo Bluestein.) Personally, I liked the setup so never attempted to adjust. No wrench came with the guitar, nor was any declaration by him of a problem made although he was very accurate in his disclosure.

Not sure how it would be damaged, this may be a good question for Kim or John as to what size you need. If you are unable to find the right size, either contact them directly or give me update on what you tried, and I will call them.
