| Could somebody give me a rundown of the numbers I am looking for? I am going to replace the great old Classical Ovation I had years ago.
The one I had had a spruce top basic amber finish color and a deep body with a simple plastic sound hole surround. I think it was a common model?
I have seen a few Ovations that had the deep bowls but they were cutaway's? I am not sure that I care what type I buy as long as it is a deep bowl, nylon string, Ovation. I missed one that was black a few months ago on ebay but If I find one advertised somewhere I will not know if it is a classical unless I know the Ovation numbers?
I should know this information by now but I find I do not and I figure there are so many of you who do, perhaps I can take the lazy way out and ask you guy's to post a list of Nylon String Ovations.
??? was that to much? even my questions are long My fingers are tired! |

Location: 6 String Ranch | spruce makes it a 1116. Plain rosette, not prealoid is 1122 but that's a mid depth. the 16 is deep. 14 frets? that is a 1124. |

Location: Upper Left USA | Number 6 is really number 1, which was also deep-sixed and retrieved. Number 10 and 43 are with 116 for a while.
Is that a 10/4 W2? |

| So many numbers! So few fingers?
I really do wonder why Ovation came up with so many different number codes for these guitars? Ya know. Really?
Seems like the nylon strings would be all one letter code with a different series of numbers to follow as they changed through the years? There are so many series in each style it is actually quite intimidating to those of us who are not studied Ovation collectors.
Or perhaps I am just that dumb?
Don't answer that!

Location: Upper Left USA | It was probably an evolution thing - the model numbering. It didn't matter at first but later they needed to keep score. |

| Could I ask the numbers of the later models as well? Anything that has nylon strings and a deep bowl in an Ovation I am after? I guess my present preference is a cutaway like I saw on the bay in black. 1600's series or 1700's???
I was looking at the Korean nylon string models that have the multi hole designs but I did not see anything with the deep body in that line? and the color choices are wild you can see the nice wood grain on some of them but I just don't know what the sound quality is on a nylon string in these models? |
