Joined: December 2008 Posts: 22 Location: Lisbon, Portugal | Hi, my name is Abilio, you can call me Ab, I live in Lisbon, Portugal (that's in Europe) and I just got myself a brand new CDE225 Ovation Celebrity double-neck from a local dealer. I drove 300 kms each way to get it. Anyway, the guitar is great and plays great, although not 100% perfect in terms of finishing, as there are a few wood burrs on the 12 string bridge string holes and also on the upper bout sound holes, visible when you peek into some of them. Can anyone offer any advice on how to remove the burrs, specially on the bridge? On another note, I tested the guitar at the shop through an acoustic guitar amp, and I noticed a somewhat loud POP when acting of the neck switch. This pop is only heard a few seconds after acting on the switch. If toggling rapidly between necks, there's no pop, so I'm guessing there's some electricity build-up on the circuitry, maybe due to the amp not being connected to the ground? (I was not able to confirm this, as I only though about this back at home...) This guitar will used mostly plugged straight into the board, maybe the POP will not be there? I will only be able to try this next Friday, so I holding my breath... As for the OP24+ pre, I think it has the right features for this type of guitar except for the onboard tuner. I am currently using a loaned Takamine GSeries 540 which as an onboard tuner and I miss that on my new Ovation. Is there another Ovation preamp that I can directly replace at a later stage? Finally, what's a good guitar stand for a double-neck? Here are a few pics of the guitar: http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l150/PerfectStranger1/Ovation1.jp... http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l150/PerfectStranger1/Ovation2.jp... http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l150/PerfectStranger1/Ovation3.jp... http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l150/PerfectStranger1/Ovation4.jp... Thank you in advance for any help, and I hope to learn a lot about Ovations on this forum. Greetings to all from Portugal. Ab

I could make some guesses at your questions, but they would only be that - guesses. So I'm as useless as the previous respondents, but also like them I'm sure someone will be along who can answer them with authority, if not dignity. Originally posted by PerfectStranger: See, Weaser? They are available from the factory. As far as a stand, I would think one of those small stage stands that supports the lower bout and the back of the guitar would work.

If you must debur, only debur around the inside of the sound hole, you can try wrapping a pencil in a very fine sheet of sandpaper and gently debur. But I recommend you just leave it and it will eventually fall off.

Joined: December 2008 Posts: 22 Location: Lisbon, Portugal | Guys, thanks for your insights. I thought about the "normal" tuner, but I just wanted to know whether there was a pre available for this model with the in-built tuner. Should I decide to upgrade, what are the steps I need to take to disassembe the old pre and assemble the new one, i.e., how is it attached to the guitar's body? Do you have a price guide for the OP24+C? Re-deburring: that's a very good ideia about that pencil and sandpaper. I can leave the burrs in but they are ugly looking and don't belong there, the 6 string bridge does not have any. I'll try to sort it out when it's string changing time. BTW, I just broke the High E string on the 6 string.. a good start, I can see... On another note, you think I can directly swap the G strings (no pun intended) location on the 12 string, i.e. the high G on the bottom instead on the top, just like Brian May does, so as to ease the playing of Love of My Live (you know, THAT part of the song...) without affecting the nut slots for the G strings? Gents, I'm glad you all know now where Portugal is and it sure isn't inside Spain... Thank you again for your comments :)
