Location: SE Michigan | I have a W597 Adamas CVT that has what I assume to be the Ovation Thinline pickup. I bought it used and I believe it is a 2001 or 2002 model, it has the Optima style preamp. The saddle is thinner than the traditional Ovation Pickup on my 1717 Legend. It has shims under it and comes out as an assembly. The bottom is irregular, it has gaps along the bottom edge where it contacts the bridge.
My question is; is this pickup inferior to the original wider style pickup? I notice all the new high end Ovations have the traditional style pickup. Why would the Thinline be used on a Adamas? Or maybe it's not a thinline?
Just curious, I have been comparing plugged-in sound between my guitars and am looking to clean up the piezo quack a bit.

Location: Asheville, North Carolina | Get a DI preamp...such as a Sans,LR Baggs or the new Fishman Aura. This will allow you to tweak things with high quality EQ, filters, etc. The Aura system works differently but does a great job...its kinda like modeling but different according to their explanation. Hop.e this helps |

Location: 6 String Ranch | not inferior, just different. Now because it's different it is wide open to speculation about which is better. |
