Joined: June 2004 Posts: 365 Location: NC | I am putting together barre chords in both minor and major and need some help. The F# barre I believe is the following: -barre the 3rd fret strings 6-1 -use the second finger to press down the 2nd string on the 4th fret -use the 3rd finger to press down the 3rd string in the 5th fret -use the 4th finger to press down the 4th string in the 5th fret Is this correct?

Barre chords are pretty easy- think about the standard open E and A chords. If you barre the first fret and play the E fingering you are playing an F (up one fret), barre the 2nd fret and play the E formation-F#, third G, and so on. Barre the first fret, play an open A above it, its a Bb, second fret B, third fret C, and so on. Think about the 7th and minor variations of those fingerings and you can play just about any chord. Just make sure your hands and forearms are ready for the torture!

The chord Elite LX describes would be a Cm if the 6th (E) string is not played.(Barre finger on the 5th string 3rd fret is a C, other fingers in the shape of an Am makes it minor) It will be an F# if you move the Barre to the second fret, 2nd finger 3rd string 3rd fret, pinky finger 4th string 4th fret, 3rd finger 5th string 4th fret. Strum all 6 strings. Below is a good place to see charts of the A shape and E shape Barre chords, both major and minor, along with a few other goodies. BY the way, I am close to having my own Standard Elite LX in NE Burst. I layed it away right before Christmas, to keep my wife from shooting me for buying myself another guitar when I already have 2 and am just a beginner. http://www.danmansmusic.com/resources/guitarcharts/ :D
