( www.wncw.org ) but I've never made it up the mountain to check out a show. They have some pretty big names as well as the popular local talent pass their way much like The Handlebar in Greenville,S.C. I've gotta get out more!!!! :D

She raved about Alaska and the "different kind of people up there". Said she saw a woman in her late 70's on the main street of Palmer wearing denim coveralls and carrying a "big shotgun". She hopes to get more bookings in AK next summer. Stephent28, don't worry too much, I feel sure she'll be in the Denver/Boulder area in May or June. Elite04, she was at the Orange Peel in October 2003 with Vic Wooten and his "family band". I was there and it is a super venue. Vic is the greatest electric bassist I've ever seen. Willard, I believe this is her first appearance at Luther's Blues in Madison. I hope you enjoy her new show. Cwk2, thanks for your unfailing support. Trboy, imho Orange Peel and the right show would be worth the drive (scenic route would be through Brevard and north on Blue Ridge Parkway, right?). HNY, Everybody!! Dave King Kaki's Dad

I think I startled Kaki a bit she said she didn't have much control over that but it worked. The rest of the set was great. I gave her a few OFC picks after her set. The Adamas sounded much better than the other guitar she had, not sure what it was. I think Dave should change his handle from Popcritic to Proudpapa.

She gets her sound off the stage monitors and frequently can't really hear the house PA. She sounds a hell of a lot better turned up, doesn't she? She told me she enjoyed meeting you and appreciated the OFC picks. The other guitar is a Lowden OM10C given to her by Mr. David Lindley. It's a sweet wooden guitar, but no match for that blue Adamas, imo. OT, the Langerado Festival in March (Sunrise, FL) has a very cool artist scroll banner on its splash page. She's on there: http://www.langerado.com/ Best to all-- Dave King

Thank you for your reply and taking the time, we look forward to you hanging out and keeping us informed! Trboy...just cruz up I 26....the Handlebar is a great place as well I've been there a number of times...saw Jorma and Hot Tuna there...great show! Also saw String Cheese Incident. Anyone remember "Be Here Now" in Asheville...? I saw Micheal Hedges there twice just before his death, The original Acoustic Alchemy, Los Lobos Acoustic, David Lindley and Hani, twice and a bunch of other greats. It's gone now due to fire codes.

I'm new to the OFC and only purchased my first O in the past month. I must confess that I knew nothing about Kaki until I got the magazine recently (ironically, it was a free issue from having recently purchased a Martin). I was impressed by the maturity of her responses in the interview... (well, she does look young) and fact that she mentioned her influences, including her "dad". I'll look forward to hearing her music, but I guess it will have to be on CD.

The design is clearly based on the blue Adamas prototype she played on the Letterman show. Bill, did she have this guitar in Madison? Dave King

Just ran across this "upcoming concert" review which mentions Adamas: http://www.losbanosenterprise.com/local/story/9616534p-10501842c.html Had to MapQuest it, and found Los Banos about 75 miles east of Santa Cruz in the Central Valley.
