Have any of you had the opportunity to try out the Genz Benz Shenandoah Jr amplifier. It is a Kaman product so I figure it would go hand in hand with Ovations. It looks to have nice features for a small 35 watt amp. Serge from this board streered me toward this one. He has been using the larger model for quite some time I guess and has great things to say about it. Anyone else? I'm looking at this one and the SWR Strawberry Blond for home use with my "O"s. Opinions please...

Fly Guy - I'm using the Shenandoah 85 (they are now offering a newer 100 version) with my Legend 1867 and plug my Celebrity mando in sometimes. My bandmate has a Shenandoah Jr. that he plays his Epiphone mandolin through. We really like them. Great sound for our acoustic instruments. We've played in many different situations (outdooors, small clubs, coffe shops, art gallery space) and find them excelelnt for the various conditions. We both got them new a couple of years ago
Our other guitarist/vocalist/bass player/drummer got a new Fender Acoustosonic Jr. and I have to say I like the Genz-Benz's better (she bought a new Fneder acoustic guitar around the same time ~sigh~, just can't get her past the name recognition!)

In rehearsal we use the amps to plug our microphones into and the vocals sound great too.

I've barely experimented with the effects on mine, but it has a lot of cool stuff. They have most of these from Alesis:
Alesis PicoVerb Effects

Basically I give 'em a big thumbs up!

Don't blame you for being unimpressed by the Fender Acoustisonic Jr.....just seems to be missing something.

That said.....

I own the big brother, the Acoustisonic SFX, that sounds like a monster with the Ovations. I especially like to put just a hint of hall reverb to get that really huge open sound.

I also played the Shenandoah 85 and the Jr. The Jr did not ring my bell but the 85 really sounded terrific! Only problem was, the store would not sell the floor model and they told me 2-4 weeks to get one in......so I went with the SFX instead.

Try the 85 and the SFX.....both sound really nice and I think you would be happy with either. Maybe your pocketbook will decide

I have a Shen Jr. & I like it a lot. I paid $350 for it. It has plenty of jump for at home & the places where I play. It is also small enough & light enough to haul around fairly easily. (I can put it the front seat of my pickup & use the seat belt to hold it there, very handy.) I've played through the 100 watt job. Great amp but it's got a lot more power than I need & it's considerably larger & heavier. The Jr. has a good selection of onboard effects & is pretty flexible. There are inputs for two guitars & a mic. The only things I would like to have that aren't there is tremolo & a foot button to turn the effects on & off on the fly.

Thanks for all of the posts. I went out and picked it up yesterday. Very nice amp. Make my "O"s sound purdy... Happy with it so far.
