Quite glad for this thread, as I'm 4 mths into waiting for a Viper to be completed and sent over to me from a shop in New York. I knew there would be duty to pay, but so glad I can plan for how much now! Alpep - you're right, it's still saving me on UK list price. I was seriously considering buying two, selling one when they arrived, and bingo bango bongo I'd have a Viper that cost me nigh on nothing. Couldn't quite raise the necessary, though. Darn. JB (looking forward to the new member of my Ovation family arriving shortly.

You will also find this site interesting and full of information. Paul is spot on with the rates given and it is still worth importing from across the pond. Piers

Cheers Terry | ||

When we go to a Pub, we either drink chilled beer, Lager or when I drink a good English pint of Bitter, it is at Beer Cellar tempeature. This is the beer storage room below the bar. Good English Bitter is served only sometimes at room temperature but that is unusual now, unless you are really out in the wilds, it is normally at the cellar temperature, which is colder than ambient. Having spent some time on training course in Springfield MA, (Agawam to be exact) I can tell you that the local MA " Sam Adams" beer is very similar to our Bitter, such as Adnams or Old Speckeled Hen. It was the beginning of the end when they brought out "extra cold" Guinness a few years ago. It's getting easier to find good British style beer in the USA, except of course it's served far too cold. Kinda like drinking chilled red wine (as opposed to Chilean red wine) But then what do expect from a nation who invented the Banjo.

If I'm Hot&Thirsty and need t'chug something (or there's tequila aboot), it'll be a Corona. I used to drink Sam Adams occasionally, but the owner pissed me off on a "principal" issue a few years ago . . . so I boycott 'em . .
