2nd one I've seen like this. Tony bought one just like it w/o realizing it from the pics. Did he sell his to this seller?

Nope, still have mine. Believe the seller of mine didn't even realize that the wings were off. Yet, we did adjust the price...otherwise, guitar and case were in perfect condition - I paid $450.

This is an oiled walnut neck, several OFC'ers have seen it and until I put it next to another O, didn't notice the "bobbed" wings.

I would suggest writing the seller about the damage...get him to place the damage as a revision (might keep the price lower.) If you wanted to repair it, quote I got was about $150 - personally, I would leave it as it looks fine. A good looking headstock if you didn't know better.

I bought a Viper 3 of eBay about a year ago that never looked quite right in the pics. Never could quite put my finger on it but the guitar was in great shape so I snatched it up.

After I got it, I realized the wings had been clipped and the headstock nicely rounded.....such a nice job I called Kim K and asked if Ovation ever made rounded headstocks. He assured me it was done by someone who had broken off a wing or two.

I would post a picture in this message if I knew how!

I'll be Danged, as Al would say, that is sure a modified head stock and done intentionally. Kinda surprising to me as I love the Ovation headstock and can't see why anyone would change it.

Bailey,
As I mentioned, apparently one or both of the ears were broken off and this was probably a cheaper alternative to spending money to send it back to the factory for repairs.

Certainly looks better than a headstock with a broken wing on it.

Oh yeah....in regards to our Viper thread...this is the Viper 3 that I picked up about a year ago.
