If you are looking for a breadwinner, here is one on ebay with a low buy it now price. I am tempted to buy it and repost it for a higher price.

Once upon a time, not too long ago, I said to the choir, who should be in the know.

Buy Buy Buy, these things are selling cheap, in 10 years or sooner, you will look back and weep.

These chances are drifting from us, and these axe are getting scarce, the smart are buying quickly, and the dense sit on their arse.

That's not THAT low... I got all three of mine for around $433 apiece. The deacon was around $550, and deacon 12-string around $650.

But I let a few of 'em go by before I got those prices too.

The prices on these guitars is going up. I bought my Preacher 12 2 years ago for $600. Today I could probably get between $14-1600 for it. Vipers that 4 years ago sold for $250 now sell for $450.

Plus the last Breadwinner's and Deacons have gone in the $750 - 1000 range.

Sure had been a lot of white Breadwinners popping up lately. I think this is the 3rd or 4th in the last 30 days.

Hello Gentlemen - I'm new to the forum, but wondered about your apraisals of Deacons & Breadwinners. I'm trying to assess values on some of my gear, two of the more challenging are my original black Breadwinner, all stock with original torroidal pick ups. And the other is my Deacon 12 string. I'm the original owner of both and know what I paid, but am struggling with the current resale values.

Strangely enough the Vintage Guitar Price Guide shows the Breadwinner as being about a third higher in value. I'm not sure if this is because there aren't enough Deacons around to set a level or if I'm missing something on the value of a Deacon.

Value is always subjective but there has been a definite rise (appreciation) of the Ovation solid bodies over the last 6 months.

Assuming mint to excellent condition I would think the following to be fairly accurate based on current sales.

Breadwinner: $600 - $800
Deacon: $750 - 1000
Deacon 12: $1400 - $1800

Again...right place, right time, right buyer could swing prices 25 - 30% either way.

Current Deacon on ebay is already over $1200.

Pretty sure the guy who is the current high bidder is not going to let this one get away because of cost. Feedback shows he has already spent over $10,000 on guitars in January alone....all big tickets!

David, wasn't that tough ;)

Although, I think we were both surprised that I was the only bidder.
