Ok, who has boatloads of money and wants to reward me for all my postings and being a nice guy? There's now a second 87 Collectors on ebay

This is a tough time to be saving for the OFC guitar.

I havenot seen anything on the '87 collector.

What makes it such a nice find?

It's an easy playing good sounding guitar! No other way to state it.

Bill described it once as being a "Super Elite". It's an Elite cutaway with the best wood on the top, an ebony fingerboard, abalone around the fingerboard and body, and abalone inlays on the fretboard. It has more bass than my 1537 because it doesn't have soundholes on the treble side.

To make a long story a bit shorter, read the following link. :)

Thanks for the info but I nearly blew the site - I think that older stuff comes under the heading of SEARCH. I managed to read the first page but then it all froze up on me and I had to go drink beer for an hour or two before I could get back in. I'm not complaining you understand.
I read enough to know I can't afford one - it would be nice to have a sticker to slap on the headstock though.........

Not sure why it would have locked up on you...I didn't go through the "search" feature to pull up that thread. However, the site has been misbehaving for the last week or so, so that could be the reason.

Well, so much for making a run at either of these.
BIN at $1800 and the reserve is almost that high.

The 2nd one (#598) that I was really interested in has a reserve of $2000.

Neither will go that high. They should, but these have traditional sold in the $800-$1000 range. But they are worth every nickle of $2000.

Nothing more exciting than a little ebay fun :D .

There is a zero feedback bidder on #598 that has rasied the bid within seconds of my bid. This has happened several times. I guess they will be sitting at the computer for the next 4 days to bump up the bids.

Don't you know it drives the owner of the other '87 collectors crazy because his is in the $500 range and the other one is over $1100 ;)

Either way, I am done.

they probably won't sell for $1800-2000, though some of you may say it's worth twice as much. i do wish it could go above $2000 'coz i have the same guitar

one was sold for around $449 in dec.

(1)auction ended without bid (no taker for $579)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33029&item=3765733473&rd=1

(2) relisted & ended early at $449

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3766627354

i recall some forum member bought one for around $400-450 1-2 yrs ago (i turned down the offer from the seller) & repainted the top from natural to sunburst.
