Moving back into playing after a few years away. Now have an Applause and a Celebrity 12. (plus Strats)

Found a nice 6868 in cherryburst with HSC. Good price,($200) but my purpose is to get a deepbowl with a better acoustic sound than my shallow bowl Applause. Will this fit the bill or should I keep looking?

Thanks,

David

I am a deep bowl kinda guy. I think it makes a real difference. If you go from a shallow bowl Applause to a USA deep, you'll feel like you're playing a cannon!

Thanks Al. Working my way up the food chain until I can order a new O from you. :)

The more I play, the more I miss that Adamas II I sold to pay for Christmas for the kids one year when I was laid off.

Gonna get back to that level.

Unless my memory is all gone,I belive that a 6868 is a shallow bowl! I know the 6778 is a mid,but who can remember all the model# anyway. To many to keep in the old head.

My old catalogs say the 6868 is a supershallow bowl. I don't remember ever seeing a deep bowl Elite Standard.

As to the price, I'm with Al. $200 is an incredible deal unless it is in really bad shape.

Further communication reveals it to be a shallow bowl with FET-3 electronics. Based on what you guys have said, I'm still going to get it, even though it's not the deep bowl I covet. Still a move up the food chain, and should be a better 6 string than my AE-38.

So once again, the Ovation website isn't exactly spot on when it comes to model descriptions. Guys, you are awesome.

Any advice on the 6868's care in humid FL (coming from up north) will be appreciated.

Well, I bought one (6868)on Ebay tonight. Not in perfect shape with one of its ears missing, (Wonder if that could be fixed) but for $175 shipped, not too bad. Maybe it will make me forget my deepbowl aspirations. We'll see.

Or maybe I'll have to get one of those too. :)

Can't argue the price! Good get!

You might be able to "shine her up" and sell it to get closer to that Deep Bowl prize!
