Lets help the mothership....
If you had to come up with another slogan for Ovation guitars, what would it be?
Keep in mind, you are trying to attract new buyers (why should they buy), while keeping the present customers happy.
If it helps, fill in this sentence. "I bought an Ovation for the __________, and I keep my Ovation for the ___________."
Essentially, why did you buy an Ovation, and why have you kept playing it is the angle I am driving at. Of course, from the heart always speaks best.
Mine:
I Buy Ovations for the craftmanship, I keep them for the sound.
Which I would shorten to;
"Committed to craftmanship, and made to be played".
well we'll see if this goes anywhere, maybe best slogan will be incorporated by mothership and you will be asked to work for them. (hey sox won world series). peace mike |

Scene1: 35ish man dessed in dockers and a Promise Keepers T-shirt walks up gazing at a wall in a music store. Hype music stops, total silence, man's focus is on two acoustic guitars on wall hangers. One is a Taylor with inlay and a price tag of $5,995.0 on a tag that says "sale". The other is an Ovation Elite LX.
Voice over - godlike tone "Step away from the box!" "step away from the box!".
Man grabs the LX and smiles serenely.
Fade to black with "Step out of the box" |

I told you, just because everyone else is doing it doesn't make it right!
Pregnant pause as he focuses on the Taylor full of baloney, then the music kicks back in as he tells the Guitarget salesdroid, 'I'll take the LX.'
'Course, seeing as O doesn't put commercials on TV.... :D |

However, that doesn't mean that all the OFC diciples can't spread the words of truth, wisdom, product superiority and all the rest that the 3000+ brilliant minds here can dream up. Now as they say on that Caddy comercial, "Dream on...." |

What if they new guy keeps trying to play and keeps getting nasty feedback over and over, and all the other band members are shaking their heads and giving him the look. Then one of them walks up and snatches his guitar away and they hand him an Ovation. Cut to him jamming clean and loud with a smile and everyone else playing Ovations also. |

A picture of the upper portion of the fretboard (up and down)
At around the 5th fret there is a double-ended graphic arrow pointing up and down. Above the up arrow it sais "If you play here, there are lots of choices" below the down arrow "If you play here, there is only one choice." |

So the scene is pieces of a wood guitar being placed on a camp fire while one of the guys is playing an Ovation...singing "Easy to get over you..." Or, maybe "Burn baby burn, you're no use to me now."

Location: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida | Somewhere I remember reading Ovation had sold more MADE in the USA Guitars than anyone else... If that is still true, they should PLAY that up !!!
HEAR why more (Made in the USA Guitars) are sold by Ovation than ANYONE else...
If they throw in KAMAN Music's total production numbers, they should be able to make some outrageous claims, for production numbers, albeit NOT all made in the USA... that are true!!!
How about this one:
"Put a ROUNDback in the SOUNDjack"
Or at Christmas time:
All I want for X-mas is a new LX,
a new LX, a new LX...
All I want for X-mas is a new LX,
so I can wish you Merry LX-mas
They also should step up to the plate and update their Web Site (as someone recently posted...) It pales in comparison to the sound of these great instruments... and doesn't lead the public to believe the HI-tech sound, could come from such a LOW-tech site...
We've all seen KEWL websites... Heres one that won awards in my DAY JOB:
It uses some type of "Player" let it run and watch the transitions... from screen to screen... There are other spins you can do with your mouse too...
Check this out:
http://www.walkerbay.com/
I'm sure you guys have seen KEWL music sites... Let's throw some examples to the big "O" and see if anyone is listening...

Let's go back to the beginning,

or, "The action will grab you, but the sound will hold you."
"Ovation - it does a soul good..."
"Form Follows Function."
"Designed to Play."
"Engineered for Performance."
"The guitar that never gets in your way."
"The shortest path to your sound."
That's a start - Maybe I'll send some more later...
Thanks -

A little sci-fi music in the back a voice says Go! where no acoustic guitar player has gone before Ovation.

Now I would like to see them tell people that they are a great "front porch / sittin' around the living room" guitar with a great acoustic sound.
They should take pictures at the next OFC gathering, in the hotel lobby. |

How about a commercial where a guy is using his Ovation to sing his kid to sleep/tuck in. then walks out of the trailer heads to the stage and uses the same guitar to do a show! |

Your Ovation acoustic/electric. the only other thing that is as sweet as your faithful dog.
You can play with your Ovation at home, tickle it's belly and it will reward you with beautiful music and unquestioning loyalty.
You can take it on a gig, plug it in and unleash it and it will obey your every command and "the chicks will dig it".
When you get back home, you can set down with it and it will wag it's tail and lick your face and make great music to soothe the memory of the mean streets and thankless dives. (the dog AND the Ovation). |

HE took both their souls and made an OVATION
They left Eden on a tour booked by the Viper carrying an apple for Eve's favorite rations!!!
So continue the tradition and sin with OVATION
We do it each night with our souls on probation
Make joyful noise and pick with your heartstrings
HE might forgive you and you'll know what HIS love brings |
