| I have a slight curve in my GS electric. Before I turn the rod at the headstock I am curious, Is this truss rod just a bent hardend steel rod that will apply pressure as it is turned or is this set up differently?
I know how to slowly tighten and apply gentle hand pressure to make the neck go back where I want it but I really would like to know exactly what this rod is doing inside the neck.
I know you guy's know.

I thought I posted a response, must be the early onset of alltimers!
Basically two types of Truss rod - single and double action. Probably a Bzillion twists and patterns. A single is an off-set from center bar with tension to pull back from the fretboard. The Kaman Bar is a truss Rod/housing assembly that improves the adjustability of the unit.
LX's use a double action to allow adjustment in both directions. I don't know what is in a GS but it is likely a simple single action bar.

Note: never tighten a Truss Rod with more than a "hand" tool so as not to strip the threads! |

| Alright I knew there was a doctor on call somewhere in here.
Thanks I'll get right on the trus rod with a pair of waterpumps and vice-grips and crank that neck till it's a 1/2" shorter! That oughta do it!

Location: Ct./ USA | I spend my day on this subject, but I can not give an answer due to company policy, but call the service dept @ noitavO, the answer is quite simple as the theory is as old as any guitar neck with a truss rod, AND don't play it in a thunderstorm!!!!!! |
