Location: N W Ohio | On right now is an MTV Unplugged with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Page has been playing a double neck Ovation. I can't identify it. Tune in maybe you can. Good show so far. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | He might be a good magician but he's a pretty sorry, way over rated average guitar player. But Hey, what do I know, it must be the jet fuel fumes again fogging my judgement. |

Coincidentally, we had company last night and the topic of Page's talent actually came up, although I can't recall why (I blame it on drinking tequila sunrises long after sundown). The most thought provoking statement I heard was that he is a great studio musician but his live chops aren't up to the standard heard on the albums. Wisely, the host abstained from taking sides. |

Location: NJ | I've been a big Zep fan for a long time ('guess that means I still am). Seen 'em live a few times. There were truly a lot of magical "moments" (inasmuch as a cohesive band working together), but I can honestly say that there were times I wished they toured with ancillary musicians (keybordist & 2nd guitar). Page was okay, Bonham f%$*g SMOKED!! I saw the Page/Plant tour with the Eastern & Western orchestra(s). I went with a friend (& fanatic) under duress, but I must admit I was impressed with the overall show. (btw: At the show that I was at, a majority of wild-ass leads on some of the more technically complicated stuff (ex: "SongRemainsTheSame") was played by the "ancillary" guitarist (sorry, I forget the guy's name, but he was the lead guitarist for the Cure at the time). GREAT show, mediocre Page-ism's. I agree that he's somewhat overated, but put on on pair of cans and just LISTEN to LedZepIII's "Since I've Been Lovin' You" (squeeky spring on the kick drum n'all), & tell me that that's NOT one f&^(*g KickAss Blues recordin'! |

The DoubleNeck was a custom-order made to his guitar technician's specifications. The guy who designed/built it discussed it at the first Tour/Jam. I THINK that he said that there were two built.
I sure as hell wouldn't mind having one . . . . |

Location: N W Ohio | Thought this was going to be an Ovation sighting thread, didn't mean to stir thing up. The other guitar that I thought was interesting was a triple neck with a mandolin on top, 12 string in the middle, and a six string on the bottom, it was huge, but kind of cool. |
