I've got a Boss DD-2 (old, but very nice pedal) I've seen them come up on fleabay fairly often. It's the only pedal I liked years ago, when I was in search of one. I've always been an anolog delay person. I had an Echoplex which I really loved, but got tired of hand winding new tapes for it, and I just sold my Space Echo a couple of months ago. So..... the DD-2 is my only delay. Im sure the new Boss are as good or better. But if you find a DD-2 for a good price, you won't be disappointed IMHO! Good Luck!

I have a Boss DD-20 as well...just beginning to explore it's possibilities. Great one, but yes, pricey.

A great sounding echo if you can find it is the "Echomachine", part of the old Soundtank series from Ibanez.

I see these occasionally on ebay.

DiamondT....if you like the true tape echo sound, check out the new TTE Tube Tabe Echo by Fulltone. Fantastic sound, very quite, great quality and plenty of new tape replacements available. Blows away the old Echoplex (on which it is modeled) and the Space Echo. I use to have both and sold them off for basically the same reasons you did.

DiamondT, here is a pic from my gallery. Go to harmony central and read the rave reviews.

Stephen,
I'll say they modeled it after an echoplex! Nice vintage look! What do they go for? I'm starting to feel some mild GAS pains!

When they hit the streets about 4-5 months ago, they were selling on ebay for $1200-1300 (retail $999). Then after the backorder situation slowed a bit, they started selling for retail.

Now, I think they are in the $850 - $900 range.

Every GOOD MEMORY that you have with an Echoplex or a Space echo will be in this unit. All the bad memories will be gone. Mike Fuller did an incredible job on this unit.

While I am not a huge fan of Fulltone effects, this one is a huge keeper for me!

I really like my old Ibanez AD-80 pedal. Very acoustic smooth echo. I've even used it on vocals back in the day.

I bought a Boss DD5? because I heard a guitar player with a nice Martin use it and it sounded great.

I don't really use it but it is a very cool pedal.

You know the sad part? His signature song was his Martin through this delay. Then he goes into the studio and records and and no delay at all and the song is as dead as a doornail. Major disapointment.

Thanks everybody for the help. I went out and tried a couple of pedals and choose a Digitech X-Series nice little unit, I had to buy a power supply yesterday as the battery lasted close to about 8hrs. Sounds even better with the power supply.
Again Thanks
