Seriously though, it's the only thing I play. |

I play the guitars in my sig*, plus a Yamaha Solid-top acoustic - I've never been much of an acoustic player, I'm not a particularly technically gifted or subtle player.
I haven't got any better over the last fifteen years, but I have got LOUDER.... ;)
*Eclipse is on its way to me now, along with a Silvertone Sears twin-lipstick amp-in-case. |

Now I also have a 1537 Elite, a 1862 Custom Balladeer and a 1755 Custom Balladeer 12 string. As far as acoustic guitars, I only play Ovations now. |

But I've played a lot of non Ovations over the years that are very very fine guitars. If I won the lottery...... |

Location: WV | If it has strings I'll play it. As seen below I have several different guitars that I play as my mood or the song demands. I'm currently looking for a Telecaster or quality clone to add to my herd. I will say that if I had to pick one acoustic to play through an amp it would be the Ovation. |

I also had an Epiphone SG traded that for some drugs not the brightest light bulb on the Christmas tree after many, many years I sold the Fender guitar and amp and purchased a Yamaha acoustic, and traded that for a Fender DG-22S acoustic. I also owned a Washburn C80S classical, I traded both of those and bought my Elite, no other guitars are needed. I also have a Fender Acoustasonic 30 amp, which I traded a Peavey KB/A amp for.
Wow ! there it is in a nut shell

A 1778T-5, 6778LX-NEB, 1868LX-5 and an Adamas 1897 SMT in Ruby Red (which I'm gonna sell soon because I like the acoustic sound of the 1868LX better). I use a Mexican Strat for electric although I've been thinking about dumping the Strat and picking up an Ovation electric just to keep things in the family ... |

Location: Central Florida | I played Ovation acoustics and A/E's, as well as their electric guitars pretty exclusively throughout the '70's and most of the '80's. Today, I still play nothing but Ovations for acoustic work, both plugged and unplugged. But these days, when it comes to electrics I'm pretty much a Strat/Les Paul guy. However, if money were no object I wouldn't mind having at least one or two Martins, a Hamer or two, a Gretsch, a couple more Fenders, etc.. Maybe someday...

Electric-wise, it's a mish-mash. I'm in the process of sorting pictures out, so I'll put pics of everything in the Gallery soon.

Of all them, I play the LX the most. It has all the qualities one would want. Electrics, that's a whole different thing.

To this list add the 80's Custom Balladeer I bought my daughter to pick on....Great investment for $250. Better that the planks that are for sale at the local Guitarget. So I am passing the nasty little habit down the line :-) |

| Ovation's(Kaman, Takamine) have always outnumbered the other brands by at least 2 to 1 at one time almost twice that in my house and I still haven't got my first O solidbody... that's changing real soon tho I think I'm gonna adopt a viper.
current geetars: 1111-1 balladeer, 1621-4 artist, lyon/washburn/danelectro lipstick retrotone, epi es335 (retrobuilding and overengineering), alvarez custom classic. all of which are big bang for the buck !!!
All of the Kaman products I've played have been better than the competitors at 2 and 3 times the price and more.
when it comes to Ovation's they're just right...always!! That's including your viperstein Al !! (nuff said).
God Bless,
Glenn |
