I use Dunlop strap locks on all my O's to prevent disaster. Just one question - they have started to get a little hard to put in and pull out, so they obviously need some lubrication. What do you guys and gals use?

Use a q-tip sprayed with wd-40 and swirl it around inside the hole.

He has probably figured out how to sip cab through the palm trees on his uke!.....thus temporarily rendering him incapable of jumping on the board with an appropriate yet totally tasteless comment about swirling holes and q-tips.

Cruster, the moment has passed. Any after the fact comments will be ignored.

Well, that's not fair...had to go to my seester's for my nephew's birthday celebration. But, I probably wouldn't have made any off color comments anyway.

Really.

Yup, I was ready for the onslaught after I read the title and then proofed the text - I just couldn't think of any other way to describe the problem ... thanks for your mercy Cruster! And for the reply Stephen.

Stephen,
If you are really going through withdrawal for a sarcastic response, picture if you will:

In your best Dr. Ruth voice say something like "You are very, very lucky". "Lubrication is very, very important as you age!"

In either case I would consider anything that is non-staining, neutral PH and readily accessable.

Cliff you are on a separate page because I consider your witticisms and comments to be world class. You are consistently on another plane from us mere mortals!

worshipleader,

I should point out that I just installed a set of Straplocs on the TB1000 this weekend and the directions I gave you were direct from their little paper insert.....so my answer was direct from Dunlop.

Actually, I consider it insurance that I will be spared the barbs and torchings. A little kiss up never hurts. :D

I find barbs and torching, uh...stimulating. As long as as there is a "safeword". And you're right a little kiss up never hurts, that's I ask to be bitten.

I'm a jazz player - everything is in Eb or Bb to accommodate stupid sax players.

Does the fact that I bit the keyboard and passed on the original cotton buds/holes posts count as a miss?

Jeff - don't you have a folk festival in Canada to attend? (That one was a real big seller by the way :p )

Stephen:

Thanks. As usual, I tossed mine as soon as I got the things installed a few years ago. Nothing on the Dunlop website about care and feeding of the Straploc either.

Maybe I shoulda looked on the J&J website ... based on the rest of the posts on this thread!
