Hey guys!

Cool forum ...

I'm trying to date a Pacemaker 12-string slot-head. Serial number is 019966, this fall right in a no-man's-land in between:

000001-007000 1972 (May-Dec)
and
020001-039000 1974

Which begs my naive question: Is it a '73? Is it (shudder) Korean made?

Why doesn't Ovation show US serial numbers for '73?

At least one inquiring mind would like to know
;)

Thanks,
Vince <><

Yeah...me to. I read the title and thought, now what?
Ever since that breast thread I seem to be taking things differently.

I wonder if Vince gave up on this question by now.
Sorry Vince...and welcome to the OFC. Things have been a little strange here in the past few days. Please don't give up.

Vince,
I could be wrong, but I don't believe Ovation had manufacturing facilities anywhere but in the USA until the Eighties and Pacemakers are USA made.

Any help out there on this.

I saw the subject too and was disappointed, figured that maybe Persephone would be involved.
Bummer.

Jeff's right. Pacemakers are all U.S. built guitars. Ovation didn't start with the overseas work until the early 1980's.

As to the serial numbers, this has been debated time and time again. Do a search thru the archives for info, but the bottom line was that Ovation was more interested in building and selling guitars than in keeping track of them. It's not unusual for manufacturers.

Man, you guys are looking for love in ALL the wrong places! If I asked when it was "made" I bet you'd would take that wrong, too! ;)

Yeah, I checked the reference section here, at Ovation's website, and a couple of other places. They all show:

000001-007000 1972 (May-Dec)
and
020001-039000 1974

My Pacemaker 12-string slot-head is serial number is 019966, right in the gap where '73 looks like it should go. But if it was that easy they would have '73 listed, right? What am I missing here?

BTW, a Ric site might be better to pick up chicks...

Peace,
Vince <><

trboy, could you edit the post and link to the pic please, rather than post the pic itself. It doesn't bother me, but we do have minors here.
