Location: Central Florida | Chet Atkins released a video about 8-10 years ago where he showed you how to play some of his more popular numbers. I don't have it and can't remember the title, but it's out there... You could probably find it on the 'bay.

Go to Homespun Tapes
Travis, Atkins,Traum,Wilcox,Kaukonen, McGuinn, and about 100 other top players in guitar, mando, banjo, etc....all on very good instructional DVDs. I bought several on fingerpicking and they are terrific! |

I find the Fred Sokolow lessons quite good for my abilities. Quite detailed and well presented.
He has one on Travis Picking.

Location: Scotland | Thom Bresh's DVD's are worth checking out, he's Merle Travis' son and an ex-Ovation endorsee. Just got back from seeing him in concert tonight & he was killer. He did stuff by Chet, Merle & Marcel and was really funny. Great gig.

Location: NJ | Doesn't he have an acoustic that's like two guitars fused together back-to-back? |

Location: Scotland | yes, he has a couple and was playing one tonight. Made by Del Langejans I think. One side is a regular steel-string, the other he sets up in various ways (nylon string, Baritone) Tonight it was a Baritone. The guitars are set up with hex-pickups and a 13-pin output for connection to Roland guitar synths, but he wasn't using one tonight. I get the impression that these guitars are actually more of a visual statement than a truly practical instrument, but they are very cool.
Last time I saw Thom Bresh was in the late 70's on a Brit talk show (hosted by Des O'Connor!!!!!!)
and back then he was playing a Country Artist |
