When Roger Campbell and I were undergraduates (several presidents ago), we sang constantly and played a few gigs. After college, we kept playing until we found out just how time-consuming stuff like professional jobs, marriage, and kids are--and how much transfers and job changes can make it hard to keep up with each other. Last September, Roger googled me, and the guitars came out of the cases.
Next Saturday, we'll be making our first public performance together since our first kids were born.
We'll be at a Songwriters Association of Washington Open Mic Session at Red Rock Cafe and Tequila Bar, 13850-F Braddock Road, Centreville, Virginia, 20121, going on at 8:00, playing until 8:25. If anybody in the area is free, come on out and say "Hi."
We noticed last week that we were a lot more nervous about this appearance than any other appearance we ever did; this may be because we don't drink as much in our mid-fifties as we did in our mid-twenties.

Good Luck John and Enjoy! Wish I could be there to see it. It sounds like fun.

Good luck! Since this is a "Songwriters" gig, will you be doing original material?

Thanks for the good wishes, guys.
Songwriters Association of Washington has several open mics in different places around the metro area; we may end up making the rounds. We'll be doing all originals, although we were told that one cover would be okay. (BTW, if you live in the metro area, you might want to the associations website; you don't have to be a member to play at their open mics, but you can save some bucks on some of their workshops and seminars by joining.)
We're closing with one of Roger's songs called "It's Gonna Last." My wife lobbied for that because as she put it, "This time, Campbell and Hare is going to last."
Roger's wife is a pro photographer; we may have some nice photographs to post.
