Is the "History of Ovation" book still on the move or does somebody need a kind yet firm dose of peer pressure?

I have seen two.
One that started from my home and made it back to me (clearly a violation) and is enroute to Northcountry.

I have signed another that I think started in Florida.

I started the book on it's journey from Ohio. I listed everyone's address on a paper I placed on the inside cover so it would bew easy to keep[ going. I sent it to FL and haven't heard after that.

By my recogning there are two books now, I have seen one of them twice.

I apologize for bogarting the book, but each time I had a specific list of recipients to fill.

I say the more the better - that will keep them in circulation! Don't forget to send a token along with!

When I sent the book to Bailey I sent one of the old Ovation Picks from W2's collection, when I sent one to (?) in Florida I sent a T-shirt from our Youth Group. When I got one from Moody PI it came with a viper body, Deacon neck, Preacher Deluxe neck, some broken pickguards and a cacaphony of parts - so I kept the PD neck!

I just sent the book off to Northcountry with a Country Artist and a guitar strap!

I understand Nils is sparing no expense at what he is distributing!

When the Made in America DVD was circulating I got some home brew Maple Syrup from a brother in New hampshire!

The concept is something to share, not expensive but considerate. Perhaps some Oxycotin for Al?

Help!
I am looking for some financial backers to make a Hair loss lotion that combines Viagra, Prozac and Rogain!

If your hair grows back, it will stand straight up!

If it doesn't, you're like, really cool with that!

Add in some Anafranil, so you quit obsessing on it, too!
Back to the thread, how do I get on a distribution list, or does someone want to sign my copy? I'm sure I can locate some esoteric gizmo in The Left Coast Smithsonian here to pass along.

I would think that who ever has the book now just needs to add your address to the bottom of the list that came with it.
This is a long term project. I hope it reaches it's potential.

OK Brad I see you started this thread So I guess I'm going to head this one your way next. I am reading it now and will be signing it soon and readying it for it's journey. NICE IDEA! whoever thought of it?
Anyone who wants a look after "Slipkid" start emailin Brad now! I'll email you for your address tonight Brad and send it by Monday.
This is a real nice book well worth a peek! I think I may have to buy a copy now.
ENJOY

By the Way; M Woody, Nice Country Artist. Well worth the price.... Someday I may upgrade to a newer country artist cutaway but until then this one will fit the bill quite nicely! Thanks

Ohh Yeah, and thanks for the book to browse! Randy

I am glad on both counts!

In the book is a list of candidates to receive. Throw in Cruster, aka, Eddy Haskel if you will!

Between the Country Artist, The Book and the OFC you are covered wherever you happen to be sitting!

Ya know this book is going to take a while to get to very many people. I would ask that, like me, everyone who gets this read it and pass it on ASAP. It is a good read but not so many pages and photo's that you can't really go through this well in one night. I was going to mail it Monday but now that I think about how many days in a year there are and how many members who may like to see this..... I think I will send it out Tomorrow.

Ohh Man........ who got the pages all stuck together in the Adamas section?

3) Send a trinket!

Got a pm from Chatman saying book and trinket were on the way. Trinket arrived today. YUM, YUM! Trinket was Lutz Nutz, roasted asortment of cashews, almonds, pecans, hazelnuts, shallots and garlic. Chatman, from what I read and assume (I know that's dangerous) this is your company, right? Great product, thanks.

"Euro Brothers"? We're a band now? How come I never get invited to the rehearsals?

Thinking about it - don't answer that.

If there's no posting by Monday I'll buy a copy and start one this end. The trinkets are definitely for sending to the US of A though.

Anybody want to start circulating an FD14?

Cheers Fred - although you could be the one guy here who couldn't use the trinket. You could however have it framed.

I've got 4 of them so I'll send one each forward and backward if the book arrives.

The mail just brought me The Book!
I was the last name on the list and it came with no instructions. As per an earlier post in this thread a couple people sent me their address to add to the list.
So...because we tend to like lists that puts things in their proper order...here ya go.
When I'm done with the book it then goes to cruster.
From cruster it will go trboy (aka Mr. Lanford)
Thats it for now.
May I suggest that we keep the list to maybe 4 people. When the 4th person is done with it, he posts a request for a few more names. This might keep things easier to keep track of.
There is room for two more names on this list. The first two to hit my e-mail will be the 3rd & 4th.
This book has a good pedigree. Tony C., Woody, Baily, Nils, Moody, & Northcountry so far.

I'd consider sending the uke around, but everyone would have to record a track with it (no dupes!) and send it on. Hrmm, wonder if that could be done on a CD-RW. And maybe sign a guest-book thing. That'd be cool. Then I could put it on eBay with 'this uke was once played by W2, and I have the recording to prove it!'

;)

THE BOOK is on it's way to cruster. Trinket included. Also...a special "traveling" trinket to stay with the book.
We had concidered what the last stop should be for the book. May I suggest that when it reaches the end (or its filled up), it should make a stop at the Mothership and then make one last trip to where it started. In this case I beleive it would be Mr. Woody.

I'm waiting to get TTenn's address again (since I lost the email), So you have one last chance to see and sign the book on this stop. Then it's on it's way to Texas, just in time for the OFC TX mini get together (if they can ever decide on a date). :D

Let me know if you want to see it before it leaves the state.

Spent the day modifying backup scripts (and updating the backup software) on a dozen or so AIX boxes. Can you tell what I did instead of twiddling my thumbs? ;)

You should try to get at least 3-4 sittings out of the Book while you have it, if you know what I mean!

No, Woody's entry. If he wrote that during a 'sitting,'...ugh. I don't even want to think about where the book has been.

I need to wash my hands. In boiling water. ;)

Yes, got the Dana trinket. Very useful, many thanks! Is that where you work? Sally asked me if you worked for Dana brakes. I told her no, you work for Dana's rear end. She was not amused. ;)

OK, Fred sent me the book. Somewhere along the way, Uncle Sam managed to give the bottom outside corner a little water damage. But the book is still intact.

So, who gets it next? There are no more names on the list. The DFW meet isn't happening until June 17. Should I keep it until then, or send it on?

PaulWag, Hizzoner, either of you want it next?

Yeah, dunno. The list is here, but it has Jim Smith, Mike Woodford, Rick Chatfield, Noel Curington with addressed, but all are crossed out. Then it has Tony Calman and then me without addresses. But Fred sent it to me (thanks Fred).

Anyway, I need addresses to send it somewhere. Somebody send me an address and I will send it off.

Looking at my list, it was supposed to go from cruster to trboy
from trboy to ttenn
from ttenn to schroeder
.
.Ttenn....you might be on two lists. I don't remember seeing those names on the book I had.
All I know is that schroeder better get the damn book or we'll never hear the end of it.

So we must have two books. I will send mine to Paul Wag (local) and he can then send it off to schroeder. Schroeder, send your address to me or Paul. Then you can send it on. Maybe to AFG.

Cruster is sending his book to TRBoy. Take my name off that list if it is still there... although I wouldn't mind reading it again.

The Book has just left for TRBoy. You should see it by the end of the week. Sorry for the delay...had a vendor on site all last week. If anyone works in healthcare IT, you know what I'm on about. ;)

Excellent read, lots of good information. Enjoy it, TR, I know I did!

Well if cruster won't say I'll tell you that I sent him a detattachable keychain from one of our suppliers.
And I attached a "traveling triket" that stays with the book. Its a CD with picture files, film clips, and music cheat sheets that may be of interest and may not.

Yessir. The book went out quite some time ago to Travelers Rest, SC, IIRC. Sent it USPS Priority, too. The included trinket was extremely similar to the one I received 'cept it said 'Dow Corning' on it. I tried to get a hold of one of their implants to send to (I believe it was) TRBoy, but got slapped for my efforts. ;)

I'll keep an eye out. I wouldn't mind reading it again, great book.

BTW is there a list for who gets this one next?

The other book (the first one I had) got wet on its journey from MtnBikerFred to me. USPS did a lovely job of tearing open the envelope, getting the corner wet, and having all the laminated pages stick together. Mostly the water just wrinkled the pages. Some of the additionals (ads from Hamer, Genz Benz, etc) were more damaged.

It didn't even have the note from the post office that it was damaged in shipping. Once I got a magazine that was damaged. They put it in a plastic bag and had a note saying it was done during shipment. I guess that is too much to ask these days. Gotta love the US government. That's pride in their work!!!

Waitaminit... I need to get on a list. I have been ignoring "the book" topics until now, it seems. I'm looking for the ground rules. Apparently you send a present along with the book when you pass it on? I'd be game to send a custom cartoon a la Hizzoner's (see my Cartoons photo album).

Money would work better. You have 3 days to jump everybody else in the line.

If you would like to go on the list email me your name and address and I'll put it on the list travelling with the book. This doesn't necessarily mean you'll get the book before hell freezes over, but at least you'll be on the list.

Book that arrived here today will go to Alaska Fly Guy. I have added Waskel and Jas to the list, so that should be the order it goes. I will mark the list Book One, and if tten can mark his list Book Two then we should have a better idea of where people are on the list. And folks will know which book they received.

(Ron - Waskel is just down the road in Oregon so you can just drive round with it. Looks real close on my globe).

I started one (with a compulsively orderly sign sheet) and I recieved the one from SJ. No matter which one is #1 or #2 - just curious.

I believe the one I started I received twice since Paul Moody had possesion when he sent me his GFKAV.

I've never been in charge of anything in my life and I don't intend to start now.

However if you email me I will put your name on Woody's neat and tidy list before I send the book off to AFG later this week. But I accept no responsibility for anything, anytime, anywhere. As long as that's understood.

When I shipped the book out it had 5 names on it. Schroeder was the last name on the list. The idea is the last person on the list adds a few names when they get it. To keep it manageable it would probably be a good idea to keep the number of names on the list to about 5 at a time. The last person on the list can come to the board here and get more names.

Schroeder...is the "traveling trinket" still with the book?

Brad,
Your "traveling trinket" was in the book I sent ttenn last week! (great "traveling trinket" by the way-thanks)

The book I had was originally started by MWoody and had his name in there twice (he also signed it twice ;) ) I think Schoeder was next on the list after ttenn.

Tom (ttenn), who are you sending your book to?

Mine came from PaulWag - so obviously different book.

Woodster - you appear to have signed every book at least twice. This is close to compulsive obsessive. Relax.

Thanks for the addresses - 2 more people in the world for me to annoy. I'll tell them you sent me.....

I just got the book from Schroeder on the other side of the pond. Unfortunatly, it is raining like a son of a gun here and the book was leaning against the front door since it didn't fit into the mail box and is soaked! Bummer... Oh well I'm working to dry it out so the pages don't stick together. Should be just fine once it gets dry. Thanks for the trinket Schoerder. I'll send the book off to the next one on the list in a few days.

AFG, that book already had the corner get wet-get dried out- get the brochures stuck together- get the brochures torn apart....
Hope it is OK once you dry it out.
Great idea whoever started the whole "send the book" around. I enjoyed reading it and seeing everyone's signatures. Enjoy

When it leaves Alaska it will be in a FoodSaver sealed bag if I can find one big enough. I can see where the bottom corner had already been wet and dried. It will be just fine. Very cool stuff in it from what I have had time to look at so far. Waskel in Oregon is the next one on the list from what I can see.

What I used to send out (3 times) the books was a "Mail Away" brand plastic sealed envelope with minimal bubble wrap padding. Got them by the dozen at the local Office Depot. It looks like it may offer a couple/few mailings.

I would stay away from the paper envelopes.

MWoody-I got the book from the UK in one of those envelopes with the plasic bubble wrap inside but the mailman left it against my door with the top edge down so rain rain down the face of the envelope and leaked it though the top "flap". Hey Waskel-Need anything from Alaska? I was thinking about sending you a little smoked salmon but I'm afraid that, well, you can never tell how long a package is going to be in the mail before delivered from here. Sometimes a week to get 1 mile away, sometimes 1 day to get to New York. Go figure...

Having heard the phrase "you can't polish a turd" being used by some co-workers I was reminded of a Product from the Great State of Alaska.

Seems that when the Kodiak awakes from hibernation and attempts to get back into a "regular" routine one of the by-products of the reduced metabolism physiological shutdown is a very dense plug that forms at the end of the out door. There are those brave souls that will find this nearly fossilized artifact and engrave images upon it, similar to the East Coast Scrimshaw. and yes, they will also polish it!

Just a thought...

I'm a hunter/fisher and have lived up here for 35 years and it is true about the Brown bears "plug" but... I have never heard of it being that hard to where anyone has engraved, polished or had done anything else to them. I just had to call a buddy of mine at Alaska Fish & Game who is one of the head bear biologists and he couldn't hardly stop laughing long enough to ask me if I was serious. Polished, engraved butt plugs, I don't think so...

I don't know about "buttplugs", but I would mortgage my soul for some quality smoked salmon, or smoked albacore from the Pacific. As you get ancient, some of your food experiences become like memories that can't be forgotten.

I took a fishing trip to AK years ago. I ate the halibut for 2 years, and it was fantastic. Probably the highlight was a float trip in rowboats through a canyon, fishing for huge rainbows. We rounded a bend and there was a moose drinking from the river, bald eagles in the trees... just beautiful!
