Location: Birmingham, Al | I had just played one locally and decided to check internet prices. I saw $899 for the 1777 Legend LX natural and bought it immediately. It gets better...I had a $20 off coupon! I played the 1777 side-by-side a Gibson J-150, and despite the Gibson's larger body, the Ovation was an easy winner. The Legend LX is $1099 locally. I hope this $899 price is not a mistake, but I believe that I have finally joined the Ovation Club!
Thanks,
Brent |

Location: closely held secret | I hope you really get an LX. 899 is what I've seen the pre-LX 1777's going for....
Can I ask who you bought it from? |

Location: Birmingham, Al | I really like the 2005 Collectors, but haven't found one to try in my area...hence the 1777 Legend LX. I did like the Std. Balladeer 1771 LX...the sound was identical to the 1777 to my ears.

I don't know how they can sell for $899, but it looks like you got one heck of a deal! |

Location: Tampa, FL | Great find! I'm emailing Musician's Friend to see if they will match that price on the LX I just orderd.
Hey, did yours come with a case? That could be the difference. |

| I bought a 1771 LX that was not a frog two months ago from AMS $699. Musicans Friend gave me this price and I think they didn't realize it was a LX, I then price matched. It's possible it's not a frog, but I couldn't get them to do it again on the 1777 for the price they quoted then(I think it was $799). You've got to look close for the FRG statement, sometimes they're not too good about making that plain. |

Some of the publications and internet sellers do not always make it clear if what you are buying is FRG or not.Still when you can find an FRG is not a bad bargain either. it's a great way to save a few bucks on agreat guitar. But the seller really needs to let the purchaser make that decision. and not trick the customer into buying it if they have no intention of doing so.
So far, members on the board who have purchased FRG's are Happy with the Purchase. |

| Went and looked at website. No FRG mentioned. The picture shown of the hole is too shadowed to see the label. I think this company is pretty well respected from what I can remember. Just call and ask. Also, the case makes a difference in price. |

| Congrats. I think Ovations don't get the respect they deserve and sometimes you can score big time. You'll take it out of the case, tune it up and be amazed at the value. |

A search on "FRG" will give your enough material for a novel. For now just think of them as a "factory second". You will read how many who have purchased an FRG cannot figure out just why it is a second. |
