Location: atlanta | In March, my daughter Kaki was a musical guest on NBC's late-night program Last Call with Carson Daly. She played the song "Magazine" from her second CD and used her Adamas II prototype guitar.
She has been invited back to appear this week (Tues, Wed, & Thurs) as the "house band" for the show. She also appears Thursday as the musical guest closing the show.

The show's musical director wanted her to "go electric" so she will be seen using a red Telecaster (borrowed from a friend). The rest of the band is a drummer friend of hers from New York City. She will go back to acoustic when she closes Thursday night's show.

This show comes on at an impossibly late time--1:30 a.m. on the East Coast. Way too late for me, so if there are any night owls in the OFC, I would appreciate some feedback.
Best to all--

Might be a great opportunity for the Hamer folks to do a Custom, Custom for her! |

congratulations to you and yours. It's great to watch a career building this way. Especially one built on talent and hard work. You must be very proud of her achievements.
the telecaster thing.
she should definitely be playing a hamer - maybe she should have asked. I was surprised when AdM suddenly appeared with a PRS, does anybody know if he was even offered a Hamer? |

As a self-designated POC in charge of Artists Relations for the OFC (until I'm fired) I would like to ask two questions:
Six or Twelve?
What's the Shipping address?

PLEASE tell me (so that I can push my testicles down from my thorax) that the bottom of the six string is NOT resting on concrete . . . . . |

How about a one-month "cooling off" period? You are making an incredibly generous suggestion, and I'm sure Kaki would agree that she wouldn't want you to have even the slightest regret.
You are a great example of why I think OFC membership is "as good as it gets."
Thanks--

It's the grit on the walls where I hang them I need to watch out for.
Pop, in all seriousness if kaki wants and OFC Loaner just say so! It won't include a "One of these days, I'm gonna ask you a favor" clause. Personnaly I would think of it as "so cool"! |

Location: Upper Left USA | Should I mention that the adjustability of action on these instruments is incredibly flexible. How about that the 12 string sports the Hamer-Seymour Duncan collaborated Phat Cats. In fact the wiring was done by them as well.
The six sports Air Nortons with an HB/non-HB lift switch on the tone knob. The neck is oiled in the style of the Adamas and the Legends. Pickguards ala the "Two Jims".
When is Kaki's birthday?
And if she really likes it maybe they could issue a Hamer Deacon for "06"? (Now my motives are out.) |

I just love the looks and feel of these guitars and would absolutely love it if someone with talent could light it off and send it screaming! |

| Now I gotta ask a real dumb question.......What exactly are those two Ovations I see pictured Mr. Woody? I have a couple of 6 string Electrics I am getting quite used to but if I go searching for a 12???? This might be just what I am after.
I like the look of those Ovations, Big Time. Don't think there can be to many pairs of these in one place anymore. Nice photo.

Perhaps I should make my case. I am also a young musican, currently building my carrer through God. I express myself through my music, which means every single song I have ever written contains at least a bit of God in it. This makes for wonderful opportunities to share my faith. This actually happened two days ago when I played a solo show at a local Battle of the Bands. I was able to witness to some people, and a friend of mine was inspired to glorify God through his music instead of himself. It was a really cool experiance!
And although I am a male, my mom says I'm cute, does that count? Both audio clips and photographs can be shown.
You think about it....just don't regret your decision. :) |

How 'bout a little more info about yourself. Where are you located and do you have any of your music posted on-line? |

What area are you in? |

I have a little bit of music posted online. It's hard to find decent space for cheap (i.e free).

I set that up recently to use as a launching point to get some word spread locally. I'm going to put together some good recordings of my vocal songs as soon as I find a good drummer to work with.
Other than that, I don't have too much online. I can send files online, however, and share lyrics and such.
MWoody- I was mostly joking, but that Deacon 6-string is purty. :) |

Anyone have any spare Deacon parts? I have a Viper cooking and a PD on hold.
Now, the bodies are in the basement and the... attic... something about the attic... |

By the way....I didn't mean to hijack the thread. Kaki King is an inspiration, and a prime motivator getting my two little sisters involved in music. |

| Kaki is awesome!!! Dave, she's an inspiration to us all, Shannon is trying to emulate a lot of her techniques. Doing pretty well at it.
Kaki does need an Ovation Solid Body tho...
Long May She Reign!!!
God Bless,

Location: Chicagoland | Well I don't literally own them. I've only just turned 17 this past month.
My strat and my celeberty are both technically my older brothers; however, he never got into playing guitar, and the Strat was stuck down in a basement for 6 years before I found it.
The Celeberty is newer. Last Christmas my brother wanted an aucostic guitar, but he didn't know how to play. I had been playing for a month or two by that time, so I went shopping with my mom to find a decent guitar for him. I fell in love with the Ovation. He didn't like the back.
My parents also loaned me the money to get a Preacher from 1Way ( he comes here every so often) for about 200 dollars, which I've since paid off.
I've been playing for a little over a year now. I also play bass in my churche's worship band, which is good fun if you've ever done it. |

"I'm not a Carson Daly fan but recorded (good ole Tivo) Tuesday night's show (Wed. morning really) to see Kaki as the house band. She was great. Only had a drummer with her. The red Tele was on the stand. She was playing something that looked like a 335.
Kaki kept up with Carson when he was commenting and cracking jokes while talking to her. Nice to see her in a different "light".

| Had no idea - thought I'd seen the old 57 Les Paul since then, but my sense of time gets worse and worse as I get older.
Early this week somebody mentioned Dylan to me and I told them I'd seen him 3 or 4 years ago. It weas only later I realised it was before my 12 year old was born.
If he was a founding investor he's even richer than I thought he was. |

Location: atlanta | After viewing all three shows I'm happy to report that Kaki was able to perform with two of her Kaman electric guitars. (Couldn't play her Ovations though--they wanted electrics).
Most of the second and third shows featured her Gretsch SpectraSonic Baritone:
http://www.gretschguitars.com/gear/index.php?product=G6144&cat1=&ca...
She used her Gretsch Electromatic lap steel in the third show:
http://www.gretschguitars.com/gear/index.php?product=G5700&cat1=&ca...
In the first show she also played a 1967 ES-175 (a used vintage model she's had for about a year).
I thought she performed well, and her entire family is very, very proud of her.
Best to all--
