Hope no one else is interested. If you are let me know. I'm just looking for a small 12 fret guitar I can use on the front porch or take on some nursing home sing-a-longs. Not sure how much to bid, I tend to be a bottom feeder. :D |

| probably $350 for the condition. mint ones were sold for around $500.
seriuosly, it would be more meaningful for christian to donate $350 to your church or some nursing home than to get an extra guitar that you don't really need. |

Seriously Thanks for the pricing advice.
I think I'll lurk awhile. Sometimes people get in a bidding frenzy and pay more than the item is worth. |

Location: SoCal | anytime you are looking at headstock damage, prices are lower...yet, looks like main damage is noticeable from back, not front.
depends on whether it is the standard [N] or wide neck [W].
several non-damaged ones went on eBay for at least $750 (one to an overseas buyer).
could easily go for $500-650.
give it a try, good luck. |

During the last feeding frenzy, weren't the mint ones going for more?
Put me down for a mint wide neck for $500.
Is shipping included in the 5 bills? |

Location: East Tennessee | Lets not. For a little more than that price I'd get the new Adamas 12 fret slothead
I asked the seller, He said it was the standard, (1 11/16") neck. He also said the electronics worked fine. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I got mine about 3 years ago. I don't think it was as cheap as $350. but I remember it was a pretty good deal. Definately less than $500. I sold it about a year ago for something like $650. I liked it but just found the body was a little too petite. I liked the 000 size body better. Dave |

| it's about 2-3 yrs & definitely around $350 (could be $325). i remember it vividly. i almost entered bid for $400 but gave it up. it's my gift to you =)
yeah, major problems for 97 collector -
(1) preamp
(2) petite size or boy-sized guitar. look too sissy for normal guy.
oh, 000 is much better. i love my 00028vs!! |

How about yours? |

Location: East Tennessee | There are two on ebay right now. Both are asking around $500. They are both the narrow neck. I think if they were the wide neck there would be more action on them.
Question for Mr Adamas; What are the problems with the preamp on this model? |

Location: Wooster, Ohio | I don't think there is a problem with the preamp. I had heard that quite a few were return and repaired for a bad endplug. Most people don't like the touch volume control. It is a novelty and fits the retro parlor look, but it is easy to hit it my mistake and charge the volume. The sound acoustically and electronically I think is fanastic. I think you would be absolutely amazed at the acoustic sound. I love mine.

BS on the "boy-sized" guitar. It is parlor size and very comfortable to play. If it doesn't suit every guy of normal size it must be because the guy isn't really normal and must have overly large hands or ape arms!
I haven't heard or had any problems with the guitar or the preamp. More perpetuated BS. 45flint is correct in that there were some with endpin problems but that is it.
It is a terrific guitar that sounds really nice and sweet, just not very loud.
If you can buy one in mint shape for around $500-600, grab it! Make sure it has the original case. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Just my opinion, but the pre-amp really sucks. Not the "pre-amp" per se, but the whole TS thing. I hated it from day one. No smooth transition in volume, impossible to know what "bar" you were on, easy to touch by mistake, etc. It was a great idea by Ovation and really defined what the "collectors series" is all about - trying new concepts adn taking a risk. The TS just failed to hit the mark. So what. Ask yourself why it never made it into any other model Ovation guitar? The Parlor guitar itself is cool. But do yourself a favor and bypass the TS and go direct out to an outboard Pre, or do what I did and install FD14 preamp. |

Ovation did not invent the Parlor Guitar...
What was the whole idea behind a Parlor Guitar?
Acoustically, I find that the 1997 Collector does what a Parlor Guitar is suppose to do and it does it very well. Ovation’s implementation produced an eloquent instrument.
Didn’t the Parlor Guitar originate as an instrument of accompaniment for vocalists. Guitar solos and major volume were not needed in the intimate venue they were designed for.
The TS pre-amp… just listen to StandingO.
If you want to get inventive and like the pre-amp’s set tone shaping, maybe there is a way to hot-wire the volume to 10 and use a good volume pedal. Drop me a note if you succeed. |

Location: Wooster, Ohio | Last post was correct this is a parlor guitar and does that extremely well. What is a parlor guitar for? To me I use it when I am pickin more than strumin, when it is a intimate ballad. The guitar has great tone and evenness all the way up the neck. Example: I can pick "Here comes the sun" capoed on the fifth fret and it still just sings. I think "Here comes the sun" on the parlor is more intimate sounding that on a jumbo. I find it one of my most unique guitars, along with my acoustic doubleneck. But you can just get your arms around it. The electronics I think have to be looked at in the context of a parlor guitar. Parlors were really turn of the century. Electronics hanging on this guitar would look out of place. Though the electronics aren't as convenient or versatile as others, they work and are novel. I would never change them. |
