Location: Waurika OK | In a discussion in March (Topic: whats it worth? Ovation Legend 1617 80´s) I asked a question about the my 1979 1617, since it was apparent not all 1617's were alike. For instance if it had no tr cover it had A bracing and if a tr cover it had VT 11 bracing. Which appears to be less desirable than A.
The book has a picture of four different bracings, so I got my inspection mirror and flashlight and found that my 79 with tr cover has "A" bracing.
This is no big deal, but I was glad to find my guitar had A bracing. And as has been stated here before, things happen that put different parts on some of the guitars. Perhaps it had been intended for a CL, but for some reason didn't make the grade, or a top was needed for a Legend and someone just got a CL top and put in on. |

What's also interesting is that Ovation, during transition times, mixed and matched a bit so that there are no hard cutoffs for certain parts to go with certain guitars. |

Are you saying that you use a mirror and flashlight in your work? |

Location: Carle Place, NY | I did too because on my 1619 there's some extra glue oozing from the side of one of the metal strips and I wanted to make sure that it wasn't a repair. It wasn't repaired, just someone at the Mothership with a heavy hand on the glue. |
