Don't know if you all have seen this.....in the new issue of Guitar Player, with Carlos Santana on the cover, Ovation has an ad with a member of Motley Crue endorsing.....the red flame Elite T is shown....with custom fretboard inlay???? It's on page 67.

Well everyone knows that Glen Cambell had a HUGE influence on Motley Crue's early work and I'm pretty sure Al Dimeola hooks up with the boys when he's shopping for groupies so it really makes perfect sense.

Of course it's only possible that he liked the guitar, looks and sound....

"Pretty gui-tars with gorillas walkin' down my street...". But I guess it'll cause lots of kids to consider Ovations.

The metal kids love the flames guys. Dimebag had one too.

So do some of us old farts. You know what? Maybe it's the sound. The flames do look very cool, but that guitar has a very distinct sound to it. Deeper voice than most of my other "O's".

dstan,

Not to be argumentative, but I think you have it backwards. It appeared to me that Motley Crue had an influence on Glen Campbell's later work. I'm using the mug shot as a point of reference.

Nicky's guitar is actually a custom bass with the red flame job. JoeBobbo sez check it out:

Would love to have one of these ... with an ebony fretboard and no inlays.

Those mug shots of the stars are real killers.
Somebody ought to make a movie "The Hatfields & the McCoys" starring Glen Campbell and Nick Nolte
Could be a part in that for Courtney Love, too.
And...of course....Cliff
