Location: East Tennessee | I used to have an 1124 but traded it for a Balladeer, Big mistake. I now have a CC059 which is a good instrument for the price. Not as good as the USA Ovations acoustically but plugged in I'll run with it. MWoody sold one on ebay recently and good 1624's come up from time to time. Be patient and be prepared to spend $400- $500
The only thing Orthopod Tech has that's elderly is me. |

My, My . . . I make just ONE disparraging remark about a particular model YEARS ago, and it's "branded" for life . . . . :-)
How "impressionable" young Master Witko is! . . . . |

A couple years ago, Master Witko featured a picture of one of these guitars in a post . . .
While I realize that these are EXCELLENT intruments, I really DON'T like the rosette pattern and I likened it to ". . an Indian blanket being flushed down a toilet . . ."
Evidently, it "stuck" with Dave . . . |

They do come around periodically, but it requires a degree of patience and dilligence. . . .
Personally, I'd wait and hold outfor a USA model . . . but that's just me. |

Of course, here's a CA in the UK on ebay

If you want the current generation model 6773, I'll sell you mine for $1250. + shipping, including hardshell case. Photos are on my website.
Mine is upgraded from the standard model. It has gloss finish headstock and enclosed gold schaller tuners. Stock model is matte finish headstock and chrome open gear tuners. Email me if you are interested.

Location: New Jersey | So can I assume from all your input that the CC059 is a dog? Please remember I am a professional. I require smooth frets, no neck buzz, etc. On paper the CC059 looks great. But as they say I've never played a Celebrity that I "did" like. I have to order the piece and I must accept it so I'm counting on you guys for guidance. And sorry Stanging Ovation and no malice meant but you're asking for more than I can get a brand new one for. Peace brothers. |

Location: New Jersey | Thanks for clarifying that for me Standing Ovation. There is one around I can get for $700. It's the one before they put the tuner into the pickup system OP-40. I was holding off for one of those instead. Looks like I may have to get it. Unfortunately I sold mine two years ago for $500 and it took me a year to sell it. Nobody wanted it. Now I wish held on to it. Oh well isn't that a familiar tune. |

Not meaning to pry into your personal life but you sound like there is a gun to your head and you have to order this guitar today even if it is a piece of crap. Sorry but that does not make sense to me, but it's none of my business.
As for my own 6773, I have no idea what a new one costs. If the upgrades to mine (which cost me over $300) are of no value to you, then that's fine and you really should just purchase a standard one. The 6773 is a great instrument and I think you will be really happy.
I really hope you can hold off until you find what you want. If you are anything close to a professional (I am not), I think it will take you a matter of minutes to determine that the celeb was a waste of money. Just my opinion.

Location: New Jersey | Ok Stand O I will explain. I did some publicity photos using my old Country Artist and then showed up to a gig using my new Yamaha APX-5na and the guy was ticked. He in no uncertain terms let me know that he was expecting someone of my caliber to be using a american instrument and "gave it" to me. I then called the store where I got the Yamaha and they said they could get me this Ovation CC059 as a replacement. I figured it could probably fake out the dude and maybe even make me happier in the process. Yes it's something I need to do ASAP because the exchange or refund won't last past this weekend. So there you have it. |

The guitars in your promo materials don't need to be your exact gig guitars.
Imagine how many performers would have to "please" people and had to play exactly what they are pictured with in every gig?
There are many rerasons why guitars come and go.
If this guy is the one who is paying you for the gig, just prove to him that your performance will be just as good regardless of the instrument you choose to play.
If you are a "Pro" you are expected to deliver the same quality of performance with whichever guitar you choose.
I say let them be pissed, because if you are only doing it for someone else, that's the wrong reason, do it for yourself.
And in my opinion, Yamaha nylon strings are good guitars, but Ovation nylon string guitars are better.

When you go to their show, you expect to see that famous old guitar as well.

Did this guy hire you for your talent and style (regardless of the "brand" of instrument you play) or does he simply happen to like Ovation Country Artist and hired you 'cause you have a promo shot holding one? |

I have a CC059. Acousticlly it does not compare with the Country Artist. It's not meant to. It is an affordable nylon string with a narrower neck and the neck joines at the 14 fret like the Country Artist. It has the super shallow bowl and the top is not the Quality of spruce.
Plugged in, IS THE EQUALIZER. I have played it in the same amp with a Taylor Costing $1,100 Used. And did not see any difference. In fact I preferred my Celebrity to the Taylor, (no suprise) So I won't knock the CC059 is is what it is and "That's my story and I'm stickin' to it." Peace.
P.S , A 1624 is still on my list but it is down a notch or two. I should have jumped in on MWoody's when it was on ebay, but "Snoze you lose."

Location: Phoenix AZ | G3 is exactly right. Plugged in can make a lot of guitars sound good. Then the decision comes down to how it feels and plays. I think SS bowls are less prone to feedback. About the neck, I owned a 0059 way back when and I recall it having a 2" neck. Am I wrong? |

Ol Willie's Martin is 2 1/8". Must be like playing a 2X4 with strings. :D |

Location: New Jersey | Thanks for all the feedback. I've decided that when I go to the music store if the "shoe fits" I'm gonna wear it. If I can get away with wearing "Pay-Less" it will be alot more affordable than if I chose "Florsheim". In this case the CC059 is the "Pay-Less" shoes and the Country Artist is the "Florsheim" shoes. Again if anybody has an "affordable" Country Artist please email me ASAP. Thanks again for all the input. |

| 6773 - this much sheer gut-bustin' joy is affordable. Sell your wife/dog/house. Whatever it takes.
BTW - when a promoter tells you what guitar to play it's time for your first killin'. I know it's hard, but with promoters it gets easier and easier. Sometimes it's hard to remember to leave the scene.... |

If a promoter thinks he can tell you what kind of guitar to play then you should be able to tell him what kind of panties to wear ... and make sure they are pulled really tight up his crack and then give them an extra tug just for good measure.
