Location: AZ, USA | Let me tell you my story:
I just found your board today, and this is why.
I've been playing guitar for 35 years. (you'd think I'd be better at it by now........LOL)
But, I haven't owned an acoustic for 28 years. During the last few years, my musical tastes have changed, and I have been seeking an acoustic ever since. Due to limited funds, I don't have the luxury of a huge selection to choose from.
I've been on many local boards and contacted quite a few sellers. As we all know, musicians can be a bit flaky at times, and a purchase was never made................ UNTIL TODAY !!
I am now the proud owner of a CS-257 and I couldn't be happier! Yeah, yeah, I know, it's Korean made.
So what ! I find the workmanship to be absolutely flawless. Also, it is beautiful. As musicians, we understand that function comes before form, but allowing function as a given, who wants to play an ugly guitar ? (it also doesn't hurt to picture Nancy Wilson performing every time I look at this guitar) I got very lucky in the fact that this guitar was virtually unplayed. No scratches and no fret wear.
Now I can carry a guitar with me from room to room instead of being tethered by a 20 foot cord to a monster amp. Translation: I'll play more so my playing will improve. Improved playing will increase my enjoyment which means that I'll play even more, which will, again improve my playing............it's a never ending circle that has only an up-side.
Also, I only plugged into my amp for about 15 minutes and was very impressed at the richness of the sound even though it has older (Korean?) electronics. ( OP-24+ ) I have no doubt that it would be an excellent stage guitar.
The round back may take me awhile to get used to but I'll manage.
Roy Clark and Buck Owens said it best on Hee-Haw..............Pickin' and a Grinnin' |

Feel free to peruse the photo album (through member access - to the left - but be warned... you may find yourself itchin for the next one.
Notice I didn't say anything about llamas. |

I only have an Ovation Deacon at this time, and no acoustics at all, yet. I may become unplugged someday. :D
Waskel is right about the photo albums. These guitars are contagious. :D These guitars can also produce serious cases of GAS.
Best let the llamas lie. :D |

Welcome PnG.
What smell??
No. There aren't any Llamas around here. |

It amazes how many people will babble on and on about the llamas, yet come up with endless excuses about not signing up for the Tour . . .
Evidently, you guys never saw "FightClub".

I'm seriously considering not bringing one, it would make my cross-country trip a lot easier and less nerve-racking. |

I'm bringing two (Legend-12 and SlotHead54).
You're welcome to either one. I was going to be bring the CBalladeer as well, but since I'll also be transporting Jeanette, the Limey Master Templeman, and returning the two Prodigal Guitars to CasaK, space will be a premium . . .
. . . oh! . . lest I not forget the official OFC "Bar" . . . .
. . . . hmmmm . . . Master Templeman may be riding up on the bike rack . . . . |

You're welcome to either one. See, Stephen? Cliff's going to give me a guitar just for showing up! He's very generous.

yeah, right . . .
Let's compare "guitar purchase" records for the past year, shall we? . . .
. . . I was able to afford a used Pacemaker in need of a neck reset and a saddle . . .

Really, Stephen. I squeezed my 6778 out of GC via on-line pricing. My airline ticket is courtesy of UA bumping me last month. (and I have to take a redeye)
If I had unlimited funds, I'd be buying one of your Vipers... Of which you seem to have a few... :p |

EXACTLY.....because of my rash of purchases I can no longer make the merry trip to the mothership.
as goes your Pacemaker....you shouldn't have been so hard on your heart during the rock-n-roll years, the neck reset (see a good chiropracter) and the saddle....save a horse ride a cowboy! |

Maybe you can answer a question for me. Do all threads on this "Ovation board" eventually become a discussion of Llama husbandry ?
To those of you that graciously welcomed me to the board, I thank you.
For anybody that's musical, I'll extend the benefit of the doubt. To anybody that takes over a thread with talk about Llamas' , I have to be concerned about what you do when the sun goes down !
Just yankin' ya' !!!!! |

Glad to hear you're hanging in. Or not, I guess. Whatever. Glad you're still here.
I wondered who invented sarcasm. Thanks!
Be careful with the phrase "llama husbandry".
I don't think Cliff has popped the question yet.
Of course you're welcome. Did the registration page mention the $10 fee paid to all current members by new junior members?
Most of the people here are musical in some way. That does not preclude you from being concerned, however. Especially after the sun goes down.
Please don't yank me.
:D
EDIT: and where else can a simple hello turn into a 3 page thread as diverse as this? |

I had often wondered where sarcasm originated from, and find it handy in a lot of situations. Thank you. :D |

We are gonna have to relocate and secrete Cliff... yet again.
Oh and PnG...

Oh, you mean hide. Yeah, whatever, if you think it's worth it. I'm sure the llama will be relieved. DO NOT quote me on that. |
