Location: Evansville,IN | I found reasonable explanation for this, the strings are heavier on an acoustic, therefore it takes more pressure to get them to the frets.
I guess I'll just have to toughen up. :) |

real men play acoustic...so cancel your weekly manicure appointment and put medium gages on that puppy
oh, and...I have the opposite syndrom. I just started playing electric and bend the strings right off the fretboard, over the binding and I fret chords so hard they are out of tune... |

After playing for three hours, the LAST thing I'll wanna do is to get my fingertips wet . . . .
. . . I don't even usually wash my hands exceedingly thoroughly . . . . as wet fingertips tend to soften and become tender . . . making that fourth hour just that much more uncomfortable.
I usually find that a liberal dosage of Patron' Tequila (taken internally) provides the right amount of analgesic relief to allow me to "Bin & Grear It" through the rest of the night . . . |

Location: Chapin SC | I actually looked up the directions on mapquest after I was looking at the TwoManGroup site, but
11 hours, even in a convertible, is a bit of a stretch, maybe if it were only 5 or 6, I'll just have to wait for the Video version to come out.
don't bother washing for me. |

Whilst I appreciate the sentiment, TwoManGroup isn't worth a 5 or 6 MINUTE drive . . . let alone hours . . . y'ain't missin' much . . . :) |

Only on this venue can we go from sore fingers, to dietary suggestions, blatant use of drinkable spirits, and uses of, taking trips to see someone, so we can watch their partner insult them. :D
I think I'll use Eric Clapton's remedy and soak my fingertips in surgical spirits (rubbing alcohol at least 91%) to toughen them up. :) |

Just a note from someone who suffered once and got over it, I had to learn to live with the torture of double mandolin strings. The way I got over it was a week trip to Borrego Desert at a Desert Rangers govt provided home, with a supp;y of booze and pot (not my gig) and my band and I playing 20 hours a day for a music starved bunch of desert dwellers. We just played and ate, played and drank, played and smoked (I didn't smoke), and played and played. after that my fingers never became wimpy again as long as I kept up the playing.

Bailey (Please desert Rangers, don't investigate) I somehow or another don't think they would have appreciated my guitar playing as much as yours, and I would have been clubbed like a baby seal in the first hour. :D
The fingers are getting tougher, I've only been playing about 3 months now. :)
As for the "Man on Fire" method of finger toughening, that would lead to an early retirement, musically. :D Great movie though. |

HOWEVER, I did breathe quite a bit, and the air was somewhat conducive to thoughts not generally thought of by the so called "right wingers", if they had been there, they probably would have abandoned some of their principles for a few deep breaths and a few hours of soaking up some Borrego Desert night time beauty.
But, what do I know, I just play mandolin in a desert setting surrounded by people who keep burning some kind of weed!! |
