Location: Mt Clemens, MI USA | As my name suggests, I don’t plug in. I do like Ovations however. How do you feel about using an Ovation solely as an unplugged acoustic guitar? Do you think I’ll be wasting my scarce supply of cash picking up an Ovation as my main acoustic; what I mean is how much extra cash the electronics are going to boost the price of a guitar? I was looking at the GC s771 Cedar Ovation at Guitar Center; it has the OP 30 electronics, or pre amp or what ever you call it. Also, do you think it would sound OK plugged into a little Fender Bullet 15 amp? My friend just gave me his for use on a Strat I have, and that I never play anyway. |

Location: Mt Clemens, MI USA | My cash is very tight now, $600 is about the tops for me, and I'm planning on using my GC credit card on this one! I hate to do it, I've never bought anything on a credit card in my life, but I'm sick of my little skinny Kramer Ferrington that I've been playing (on and off) since the 80's, and I'm sure some of you can relate to that unrelenting desire to buy a new (or used/new) guitar; it's almost painful, actually it is painful, I give myself headaches thinking about what to buy, and how much to spend. |

Location: Mt Clemens, MI USA | That is funny!!! I know all about it; I've been suffering from a wicked case of it for a few months now. I was going to buy a guitar on a monday a few months back, and lost my job on the Friday before! Since then I've been suffering from unrelenting GAS.
How about an acoustic through an electric amp, bullet 15? |

Location: SoCal | I've played the s771 in a music store and then a/b'd it with a 5 series Taylor. Both had new strings. Quite honestly, I thought it killed the Taylor acoustically. I play my Ovations, 90% of the time, unplugged. I love their sound.
Go for it. |

Location: south east Michigan | Unplugged....I went to the Roseville GC today and played the guitar you are looking at. I like it. Just to be sure, have you tried the Elite T models they have? That would be something to concider.
Now....for this unplugged thing. I've owned a pre-electric model Balladeer since '71. I had never plugged in until I bought an electric model last year. For me, the unplugged sound of my Balladeer set a pretty high standard. Sometimes I would shop the Martin / Taylor / Gibsons but I never found anything I liked better that my Balladeer. So yeah.....I think the right model Ovation can hold it's own with any other make out there.
Hey....if you want to meet at the GC sometime I'll "help" you. I just love spending other peoples money. |

Good for you on your new Ovation.
I was there about 1 o'clock this afternoon and gave it try. Nice sound. And as always...a great value. |
