Location: Louisville, OH 44641 | Hey Guys:
Is it absurd to put Nylon strings on a Folklore? It appears that the only difference is the Bridge. Perhaps there is a difference in the width of slots on the nut as well.
I'm not sure I understand the reason for the fancy knot tying on the nylon string Bridges. I'm doing good to tie my shoes...forget the boy scout stuff on a guitar.
So at the risk of sounding like a guitar cave man, can't I just tie a knot in the end of a Nylon string and feed it trough the bridge of my Folklore?

Location: Phoenix AZ | I've heard that the bracing is way different and the folklore is way too stiff to generate any decent sound with nylons. You could always give it a try using ball end nylons. The nut and the tuners would be all frigged up, but as an experiment to see how it sounds would be OK. Then start the surgery to re-file the nut and put on nylon string tuners. The radiussed fretboard may not bother you. Dave |

Location: south east Michigan | Rick Hall said that the were dropping the "Country" from the name Country Artist. It be called just "artist" in the future.
Of course if you had been there.... you would already know that. ;) |

If they are changing the model name, they should use another name, like "Nylon Artist".

| Leave it as it is for my $0.02. It's the forgotten gem of the Ovation line up. A truly fantastic guitar. Wouldn't swap mine for ANY Adamas you waved in front of me.
BTW - Serge, did the pics turn up? I think I sent the uncompressed ones and I may have sent them to the laraandreyes address rather than yours. So they are extremely large files and they went to the wrong place. Apart from that I did everything right.
It's completely changed my whole approach to the guitar after 40 years of playing. I am sooooooooooo in love. :D |

And I agree with you, it is the coolest Ovation model ever, the hybrid, 14 fret neck, nylon string Country Artist. ;)
Watch Lara & Reyes on their reunion concert tour with a pair of vintage 1674 "Country Artists" on stage, yeah!
