Well...I did some checking.
Kinkos will make up a custom calender for $20. (I had hoped it would be about $12.. but that's life.)
Anyway...here is a plan... tell me what do you think.
Cost of calender....$29.00
Breakdown: $20 to Kinkos...$4 shipping... $5 to go to the OFC upkeep fund.

You would send me a check for the full amount along with one hi-res photo of your choice. If more than 12 calenders are ordered it would be up to I...Slipkid....your humble servant....to pick the photos that would go into the calender. Orders and payment would have to be recieved by let's say October 1st and the calenders would be mailed by November 1st. Right after that I would cut a check to Miles for amount above costs. Hopefully Miles would use the funds for OFC upkeep and not motorcycle gas.
What do you think? Did I miss something?

Do we really want a Ukulele player deciding on which photos will be put in the Calender....

If ANY uke photos make it in...I propose that it be solely limited to the month of February.

Don't be sending anything in yet. Let's see if anyone comes up with a flaw in the plan.

You would just have to trust me on the photo selection. I would do my best to choose a good representation of models and history. Any photos sent in with excessive clevage would be kept safe in my private collection.

Are ya thinkin' simply shots of guitars, or maybe something more unusual like...lets say...things peculiar to the OFC. Maybe shots of guitars AT the factory. Maybe things like stacks of top sets waiting to be made into guitars. How about someone in the booth putting a reverse sunburst on an Adamas. How about our Llama Lady applying little pieces of abalone to a Custom Legend LX top. These are shots that not just ANY Ovation owner could get their hands on. What do you think? John <>{

I would think that since it would be a Fan Club calender it would be more about it's members and their collections. Maybe just guitars, but it might be nice to place a face with the name and collection. If the factory was putting one out it might have pictures of guitars being made. I'd like to keep it a little more personal.
What do you think? Keep the comments coming!

How bout a picture of our favorite Nancy playing her blue Adamas for January (I think that's her birth month), and of course Kaki on hers (sorry, don't know her birthday). Maybe some other O celebs b-days(GC,AD,ME, etc.)

I would think that a photo taken by the person who sends it would not be a problem. I'm not an expert but as long as we avoid trademarks or proffessional photos we should be okay.
Can anyone confirm that?

I think that sending in a picture with your order would result in what people want to see. One order equals one vote for a picture.

Lets face it. In order to display all of the beautiful instruments owned by members of this club we would need a daily or perhaps hourly calender. :)

Also, has anyone taken into consideration the GAS this calender will produce? :D

Nancy's birthday is March....16th to be exact....

I doubt that pictures of well-known artists playing Ovations is a plan....too likely that there would be legal problems. Well-composed and sharp pictures of interesting guitars would be quite good enough, I am sure!

Maybe this is just me, but I'd love to see a take-off on one of those chopper motorcycle calendars. A bunch of bikini clad bleach blondes with huge fake tits posing in all kinds of provacative positions with Ovation guitars. Call me crazy. Dave

Well it seems like as of now, maybe 6 people would be interested.
I'm very willing to do the shipping and legwork. It could turn out to be pretty cool. And the OFC fund could benefit.
I'll be out of town for about a week. I'll check this thread when I get back. If I can get a total of about 12 people interested I'll take the next step.

I'll need one. Maybe if overcome with CAS (Calendar Aquisition Syndrome) two. Don't have any pictures to submit, seems to me that between gallery's and other sources you can probably hit your number of submissions.

Will this calendar annotate major dates? YOu, know, like NAMM and 'le Tour' and Al's birthday?

I don't think you're going to want to use gallery photos. The resolution is waaaay to low for printing.

Gallery pics are to small. They would look very bad blown up to calender size.
A very limited number of noted dates are free. To go above and beyond that number is 5 bucks per day. Five bucks?!??!?? Per date!!?!!???

Slipkid-Sounds like you are taking the lead on this project? Do you want to start receiving photo's? What size are you going to want? Can they be emailed or like the above suggestion, on CD? Do you know the layout yet (portrait or landscape)? Great project. I didn't know you were waiting for numbers of interested OFC members until now. I presume there will be several more that will chime in when they get home from work and see that you are looking to see how many will want one or more of these. They would make nice Xmas gifts to those guitar playing friends. Of course I'll need at least one for the house, 1 for the office, 1 in the music room, ect... I'll bet we wind up needing a bunch of them made up.

Yes..I am willing to take point on this one.
Please don't sent anything yet. I will be out of town for about 9 days. I bumped this thread to see if it still had interest. I'm encouraged. Looks to me like it will be a go.
In the meantime, take a hi-res picture or two for submission.
I'll check back in on the 16th.

Slipkid- Let me know if you need any help with this one. I don't mine donating a little time for the good of the cause. I'll see if I can find some time to get out to a glacier and shoot some images of a couple of my guitars to submit for a winter month. At "something below zero" I won't be offering to do this in the winter! How about someone on the coast taking a couple beach photo's for a summer month?

Slip;

To save youself some time/expense/aggravation, find out from whomever is doing the final work EXACTLY what they want (image size, resolution, .jpg/.tif/.psd, rgb/cmyk, etc.) BEFORE you take submissions. The less that Kinko's/whoever has to "handle" the files, the more you'll save in production costs . . .

I thought a "calendar" of "Os" was in the making?
The pic's had been taken but... Didn't make it to print last December.

Great shots of great guitars will make it worth it. I have a "Martin" poster of 8 guitars... I guess what "Martin" thought to be the best...

It would be great for the Mother Ship to put out a "best of" poster.

Use the same pic's to produce a 2006 Calendar.

If done with quality in mind... I believe 100 / 200 could be sold.

I uploaded a high res pic of my 2005 C778LX here . I can take others if anyone wants me to. The color on this guitar seems to change depending on the ambient light. Outside in the bright sun, this is pretty orange. In room light it looks much darker red with a hint of brown.

I think this is called New England Burst. The website doesn't list the C778LX as coming in NEB, only Black and Black Cherry Burst. Any ideas why?

Tommy, your must be black cherry burst. I've got an NEB and it's much darker around the outside. If you don't have one of each to compare it's hard to tell for sure.

(yes I know it's a dark picture, but you get the idea)

No, that looks about the same as mine in low lighting.

This is Black Cherry Burst from Ovations' website. It is MUCH darker than mine.
