Location: Cherry Hill, NJ | I receive flyers and catalogs from Musicians friend, and Sam Ash, like the rest of us, each week. Usually, they upfront cheaper guitars, to get your attention. What bugs me is that, they show a Celebrity Ovation, with Ibanez, and Fender acoustics, all imports of course, and show a LX model or American made O on the same page. The USA O's are 3 times the price, as we know, but how does the new customer know the differance. I don't mean to belittle the Celebrity owners (actually you should have seen Kim, and Temp, do a Pete Townsend or that poor Celeb last week) but the name on the head stock is doesn't represent the difference of guitars. My suggestion is: I think the Mothership should call the line" Celebrity by Ovation" It is simply a truer marketing name. |

Toyotas are good cars, but they don't put the badge on a Lexus.
Tommy's right.
Action please. |

Location: closely held secret | They certainly don't market Applause as Ovation the way they do Celebs. And I don't blame them.
I just got the newest flyer from GC and they have LX's on the same page as 2k to 3k Taylors and Gibsons. Not that the LX's aren't great, but why the heck don't they put up an Adamas or at least an 05C??? |

The reason that GC doesn't show 2005-ESs and Adamii with the 2K Taylors is that most GCs DON'T CARRY the more expensive Ovations....they certainly aren't going to spotlight something they don't carry!!!!

I didn't realize the practice had changed. |

Roger That's my point - they OUGHT to! Our local GC has had 2 05C's. They have gone through several Legend & Elite LX's (I know - I bought 2). |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Does anyone know if Kaman has a product line policy? By that I mean, is a retailer like GC required to order a certain mix of guitars or can they just pick and choose (order only cc057, if that's all they want to stock).
The reason I ask is that I used to work in a camera store and I know when we would order it was like a chinese menu. Products were divided into 4-5 categories and we had to order a certain minimum from each category. Thats how the manufacturer assured that his line was well represented. So we would order 1 from each category and then 100 from the single category that we knew would sell.
Related story, I went to buy a new lawnmower. My previous one was an Areins and I wanted to buy another of the same. But the local shop said he dropped the line because they had enforced a new policy where the retailer had to stock and sell the entire product line. The snowblowers don't sell very well here in Arizona.

1. Yes I do have a small lawn and I pay outrageous water bills
2. I'd rather waste water on a lawn than give it to California
3. I don't have a Hummer, but I do have a gas guzzler (X5 4.4i)
4. I've never been in jail ... yet
5. I don't own a Rascal ... yet |
