I just purchased a Legend deep bowl, straight acoustic, made in 1985. It is nearly identical to my 1981 Legend, with the exception of the mother of pearl pins that attach the bridge to the top are located more toward the center of the bridge than on the older model. Both guitars have the sunburst top, but the shading is different. The older one has a yellowish tint where the newer one is more of a brown. They both have the model number of 1117, but nothing to indicate what the finish is. Just curious as to why they were different. The guitar is in excellent condition, (looks brand new) with no cracks or wear at all. I paid $250.00 for it with the original hard case. I guess you could say that I stole this one.

Maybe the one with less yellow is Tobacco Sunburst.

I've seen two brand new Gibson L5 archtops hanging next to each other in a store and the difference in the sunbursts was amazing - and they were supposed to be the same. You do see a lot of variation from one guitar to another.
