Location: Paris/France | Hi,
I'm so proud to tell you that my new babe is at home since yesterday evening!! :) A new one in the OFC family.
I was waiting for this beauty since i've seen my first Ovation in the early 80's.
Now, my dream is realized!!
It's an amazing Adamas I 1687-2 in mint condition.
The previous owner bought it in 1991 for learning and had never played it. I've never seen a near 15 years old guitar in a so good condition. She looks like a new one. And the sound... Purely incredible!!
My heart was beating hard when I've opened the case. I have to admit that a small tear has come to my eyes at this moment...
This babe is now on the wall just beside her sister (My 1182-7 proto).
I'm in vacation but I woke up at 6 am to look at her.
Thanks to all the people at the factory for making so great instruments and for giving us so much emotions.
Jérôme

Location: Paris/France | Thanks Fugot and CWK2,
These guitars are really different.
First, I must give you some information about the prototype. It's not a real prototype but I don't know how to call it!! This Adamas is a combination of an Adamas I body & an Adamas II neck (many thanks to CWK2 for this information).
It's an hybrid or the "missing link" between Adamas I & II. :D The model # is 1182-7.
I was amazed one week ago to discover that this model was listed in a German List Price as an Adamas II acoustic only (wide neck)!! But i've never seen such a model anywhere!! Very strange isn't it??? All the Adamas I or II (except Slotheads) I've ever seen are EA and not acoustic only!! Does anybody have information on Adamas acoustic only???
1/The weight:
1182-7 : 2,457 kg
1687-2 : 2,822 kg
Sorry but I don't know how to convert kg in Lb!!
2/The sound!!
The 1687-2 is full of bass and the 1182-7 has a much brighter sound. Both have an incredible projection. Both are Adamas...
3/The neck is thinner on the 1182-7 (it's an Adamas II 5 pieces neck)!!!
4/I give you my own opinion:
The 1687-2 is really made for fingerstyle and the 1182-7 is more "multipurpose".
Finally, I can't make a choice. I love both and I realize that I'm very lucky to have these instruments at home!!
