Location: NE Florida | I bought this Ovation used a couple years ago and have not figured out what it is exactly. The dealer said it was American, but knew little else. I realize this was risky, but it's a great guitar. There are no serial numbers on it--no identifiers that I can find. As you can tell from the photos--it has a brown-burst color, deep bowl, pearl tuners, and an op-24+. What you can't tell from my photos is that it has an archtop. Please check out the photos and help me out.

Location: closely held secret | There's no label inside the body on the upper bout?
How about serial# on the back of the headstock? |

Location: Keller, TX | Yep. Looks like a Celebrity CS247. A few years old, judging by the preamp. This is the current one on Ovation's website. Ovation lists the CS247 only as coming in the green top currently.
The Archtop had gold tuners, I think.

Location: Boise, Idaho | I had a CS247 for a few months. Nice guitar. Looked just like that. 247 had mid-depth bowls, if I remember and the 257 had shallow bowls. Mine also had no label. The mid bowls are a half inch shallower than the deep. I figured mine was early to mid 90s because of the sliding cover over the battery. Yours is probably later. |
