Poll time!

We're working out the numbers on the 2005 Tour DVD, which will be sold through the OFC Store for the embarrassingly reasonable price of $6.95, postage included, with all profits going to support this exposed nerve we like to call the Ovation Fan Club.

The DVD contains video of "The Room Full Of Really Cool Guitars", talks by Frank U. and Rick H., both Hamer and Ovation tours, and all the Jam performances (sorry, Cliff). At 2 hours 43 minutes, it's worth every penny we can pry from your fingers. And you get to watch Temp and Al eat breakfast. Ok, you can skip that chapter. I understand.

What we need to know, realistically, is how many are not only willing to have this, but pay for it.
Remember, all profit from this is going towards OFC web site support.

Thanks.

I don't care if you send Miles pennies in a jar.

They should be available in the OFC Store just as soon as my 4 associates get them copied and sent to Miles, and Miles slaps labels on them and lists them in the store!

I hope everyone enjoys them!

Oooooh boy.
This message board does not have the font to convey the words.
I have only spent about 20 minutes with the disc.
Waskel....you are awesome. What a fantastic, professional job.
I just happen to know that Waskel spent about 30 hours at the keyboard editing this together.
A couple things will happen.
1) I better make a few exta copies to send to Miles. Even with that...order quickly.
2) This disc will definatly increase the attendence at next years tour. Gar-on-teed!
This is not a tease......it's a heads up!!!!

Man!! This is great!! Thanks Waskel. The tour, felt like being there. The Jam session, really cool!! Especially hearing all the guitars together back at the hotel. These will be "in stock" Tues or Weds. Call, email, or PM Mr.Ovation to pre-order. Supplies are limited!! Be the first on your block!! Don't miss out!! Great gift idea too!!

Got mine today also.

Works perfectly when played straight through.

Mine locks up the disc when trying to access individual performances. Both my players are high end and based on the Pioneer stable platter system.

Did any of you other guys try accessing the perfomances individually from the menu?

Still....WASKEL DID A FANTASTIC JOB! MY fellow compadres have not understated how fantastic this DVD is.

Seeing Al sing was worth it and man....can Templeton play slide!!!!!!!!!! The hotel jam was also a great highlight.

No need to mention Cliff's singing. He knows he is good ;)

I don't know what the problem could be, Stephen. I tested it on several players. Are the other menus working properly?

"Prototype" discs have been send from the "design" department to the "manufacturing" department. That's where we are now. After the production run and some quaility control work, the discs will go to the shipping department. Miles has successfully negotiated the exclusive rights to retail sales. He will announce when they are ready to be "released" to the public. Please....no bootlegs.

Hmmmmm....not exactly the description I gave it nor where I placed the blame....but so be it....never the fault of engineering/production, always the fault of manufacturing! :D

The disc works fine now and production of my piece of the pie has been completed and will be mailed out to Miles by either Tuesday or Wednesday.

got my dvd today.
nice job. I did not watch the whole thing i was too busy.
I was a little shocked to see some of my stuff in there when I asked to be edited out. I always have a hard time watching/listening to me play.
the drunken end of the night Friday night hotel jam was a shock to me. I had no clue anyone was even filming....but what the hell do I know? I am just a hack guitar player and an idiot that sells gear for a living...

I'm pretty sure I want one.

BUT, did anybody do a cover of "Tiptoe Through the Tulips"? That would definately make it a keeper.

The only thing better would be an A Capella chorus of "Feelings".

Al, I'm sorry you were shocked to see yourself in the video. I didn't realize you were that serious about not being in it. I left your parts in because you are a great guitar player, a decent singer, and most important, you were a part of the experience, and that's what I tried to capture. It would have been different had you not been there.

If you like I can send you a copy with all your stuff edited out. :p

Those are considered to be longstanding copyright identity tools! Artistic license lived on!

I understand that Cliff throws in a little picture of Dave Witco in some of his larger pieces.

I think most of us feel that way, Al.
Sometimes we just have to listen and believe when our audience says, "You done real good".

Can I get a Set List before I commit. Also is there any Nudity? Knowing this bunch I thought I might want to ask first.
Of course if there is........ this may bring the price down some.

You can count me in for a copy.

Ohh by the way who exactly is "Miles" and why is it we send him money? And does Cliff get any royalties for this tape?

Always happy to help this site. And I also wish I had made this trip!
I think I could add some class to this whole thing.

just watched the performance section of the dvd.

Wow a lot of good talent there (excluding myself)
Since I spent a lot of the time shaking hands, kissing babies and sitting in the corner drunk basking in my own self doubt and pity, I missed some of the acts.

I think this is a great idea, I hope we can do it every time. The only downside is that I will have to learn new songs every year so no one thinks I can only play just a few...wait a minute I only can play a few songs.

thanks guys

btw the dvd did lock up on me once I have a sony player but after puting it back in it started up and ran fine.

While I haven't experienced any problems on my Sony player, I have heard of a couple of difficulties.
It could be due to the length of the material. I squeezed 2:43 onto a 4.7GB disk. A lot of compression going on there, and sometimes when you utilize the entire disk surface, some players have problems reading it, especially the outer edge.

My apologies for any problems, but it shouldn't mean the disk is unwatchable.

Being an original from the Wabbit, it probably has carrot juice stains on it, thus causing problems that we have realized (and corrected) in the past.

Probably just needs a good cleaning :D

Cliff, I thought about that as well.

...for about as long as it takes to burn two disks compared to one...

More time, more supplies, more cost...

I probably should have. Maybe next time(!) I will.
Or maybe by next time I'll have a dual-layer burner.

ohhhhhh, dual layer burner. Now that is something to drool about.

Problem isn't the cost of the player but the media.....still outrageous!

True.
But it wasn't that long ago that DVD burners were $1000, DVDr's were $3 per, and CDr's were $1 per.
Now DVDr's are >.50 and CDr's are .10 to .20 each.

As the manufacturers (like strings, not that many) ramp up to the new technology, the price will drop.

That's one thing I love about technology - it's about the only thing that gets cheaper the longer it's on the market.

No kidding....remember the stand alone burners!

I am and have been a techno geek for a long long time. Always had to have the latest sound format (DTS, DVD-A/SACD, etc) and the latest software upgrades and gizmos. Actually beta tested both for hardware and software companies (for free of course) in the past.

Finally learned to cool my heels a bit. I have been patiently waiting to buy an HD TV but the current price to performance ratio is still not to my liking. I figured to get really serious around the first of '07 and upgrade a couple of the sets in my home.

Like you said.....continues to get cheaper (and better) the longer it is on the market.

Al Sounds like we have a lot of the same type of music in the memory banks. You do Tommy next year and I'll do it with ya! I have a whole medley of "Who" stuff that takes about 10 minutes to get through covers Tommy, Quadraphonia, etc. I am sure we could find a Who tune or two and have some fun with it!
I am still hoping I can find someone who knows the mandolin parts on some of the Led Zeppelin Acoustic stuff.
But HEy That's next year.... until then

Peace Love Dope

Hopefully Miles will have them in hand today or tomorrow, and can get them in the Store very soon.
I know he's a very busy guy, so please be patient.

I gotta say that you guys will reeeeally like this disc. Even if you were not one of the lucky ones to "be there". And if you were there, it's a must have.
Order as soon as possible or you'll be bummed when Miles runs out of stock.

They should be in the store this weekend, along with some other goodies as soon as I finish inventory.

ttenn - we, aka the general public, are in a holding pattern until the dvd kinks are all worked out (read: until Al is apparently edited out :D ) but the disc should be appearing in the General Store any day now for us to pick up. Miles thought by this weekend but it should be very soon anyway.

Can't wait for mine!

(sigh).... Al....please refer to a previous post where I asked you to "cut it out". And I was not reffering to your parts in the DVD!!!
This benefits the OFC so please take one for the team and talk it up a bit.

Yeah, Al!

But what do we know? We're just regular old guitar players who enjoy razzin' guys who sell equipment for a living! :D

So depending on you you believe Al's performance is somewhere between Rosanne Barr singing the national anthem and McCartney (or maybe Janet Jackson) at the Superbowl. Either way it's a pretty good selling point. I'll be really disappointed if there's no Al on the DVD!

Watch it Al, don't let the locals know you are soooo humble...you might have to move to another state.

In case you missed Miles' announcement, he has restocked the OFC Store, including the 2005 OFC Tour DVD.

At least I get to see Al's performance!

This disc will not lessen your GAS pains.
This disc will increase your frequent flier miles because you will not want to miss the next event.
As far as Al's performance goes, I think he has brought on more attention to it than if he would have just stayed under the radar. IMHO, he has nothing to worry about...he did good. I just hope that Al will take the compliments once this disc gets out there.

All the reviews of Al's performace were good. Al was the only one trashing it. Actually looking forward to all the performances.

And I heard there might be some guitars on the DVD...
