So this guitar,

http://www.gbase.com/Stores/Gear/GearDetails.aspx?Item=817275 is listed as a 1651, which seems to be incorrect according to ovation website (1651 is the legend limited). Now it could be a 1655 balladeer 12 sting, but I never knew balladeers, especially 12 strings came with a slothead. I emailed seller, but jumped here to get the 'real' lowdown. The only other quirky thing is the headstock is sunburst while the body is in natural.
I am not looking to buy this if anyone else is interested, just curious. thanks, mike

Someone added a pickguard also.

I wonder if the original neck was replaced with a neck from another guitar?

Bet it's a 1615 Pacemaker 12-string....and YES, the neck is from a -1, and the body is a -4. Definite neck replacement. I have a -1 1118 Glen Campbell and the neck looks the same.

Pickguard.....yuck.

The color of the headstock does not always match the color of the body. Just ask my wife. Dave

That's true Dave but the combination of sunburst and natural is rather infrequent and unoriginal.

Why do I think that Cliff, Bill, and Dave aren't talking about guitars any more?

Is Bill talking about guitars or Michael Jackson?

Guitars. If they were talking about MJ he would have said, "infrequent and unnatural".
