Just speculating (by the rosewood fingerboard and the bolted on bridge) that it's an Ultra. |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | The model number should be on a label in the bowl opposite the sound hole. The serial number, IF IT IS A U.S.-MADE GUITAR (the Ultra isn't), says that it was made in 1978. There's isn't enough information from the picture to really say anything else, unless a fellow member happens to HAVE one of these.
The placement of the volume knob says "mid-80s" to me, so an Ultra may well be a good call.
Sellers who don't know anything about the guitar they're selling make me major nervous(they're usually selling it for a friend, IF it's legit). Been there, done that, won't do it again.

I agree 100%.
Also, why is it that some of our members here are willing to pay $200 for an Ultra or Matrix, when for not much more they can buy a solid top USA Balladeer? I just saw a S771 Balladeer sell for $271 on eBay. Here's one (w/o a case) that most likely will sell for $250 or less:

Neck with a binding, rosewood fretboard & 9 Abalone inlays.
Not sure about the year but probably not before 1985. The barnboard color seems not to be available before this date.
And the volume knob was near the neck in 1984.
But some Ultra were made in USA.
