Worked GREAT on the Swiss, but got a little gummed-up on the Gouda . . . . |

(How's THAT for an obscure f&^%#*g reference??) |

| A really obscure f&^%&**g reference would be me and Lorraine King in 1965. |

I always thought Cliff had Schroeder's nose.
(removing it has puzzled even the most skilled proctologists) |

Location: NJ | Other than for an absolute "beginner" guitarist, or for a someone playing a lot of rock bends and leads while playing "plugged-in", I can't really see any need t'put x-lights on an acoustic. There's just no volume/tone with 'em . . . . . |

I dont think so! It may be a lame question but someone will give me an answer that has nothing to do with a household appliance.

Location: Vermont USA | I would not want to suffer tone, just had a thought. I put 11s on an electric for the sake of tone so that should have told me.

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | I'VE DONE IT, PAUL.......I started out with EJ15s on the CC01 Celeb I used to have, back 2 years ago when I was getting back into playing. It indeed does cost tone and some volume. Not a good thing to do unless you need the string tension reduction for being nice to the fingers.
OR....perhaps one might WANT the bright tone. It's valid, just not that commonly done. If brightness is desired, though, the guitar would usually be strung for and tuned in Nashville tuning.
I keep EJ15s on my 1976-vintage AA14-4 Applause to keep the stress down on that old top (I rarely play it).

Location: Central Florida | FWIW, Besides the loss of tone and volume, I also find extra light strings on an acoustic to be a pain if you use a capo. They don't like to stay in tune when you capo up on 'em.

Location: Massachusetts | Roger's got it right. Certainly, there can be a physical need for em especially starting out but I like to feel the rumble deep within me when I play. Nothing lighter than 12's
I go 10 to 11's on my electrics |
