My Country Artist came back from the Uk distributors today - it is now absolutely perfect. The action and set up are just superb. The luthier even rang me up last week to ask EXACTLY what height I wanted the strings set to.

When Mr Budny talks, these guys listen.

Full fret dress and some kind of fiddle with the nut - it seems to have lost 3 of its 5 shims and it plays just beautifully.
This just goes to show that dodgy necks can be fixed - I'm clinging to this as an omen.

BTW - I got some new painkillers today that include the warning "If taken for 4 weeks or more do NOT suddenly stop. Consult your doctor to avoid withdrawal symptoms."
Who needs illegal drugs when you've got friends in the medical profession. And they really work.

Glad they got it all sotred out for you. :)

Now you can play until your fingers bleed and you would never feel it. Wonderous things, painkillers. :D

Yes, I have developed callouses. Makes playing, or attemptimg to play, easier. I practice all week long on my Tak acoustic, then when lesson time comes I use the Deacon, which is much easier to play. :D I can even do barre chords on the Tak now, with no problem. :D

Good thing Cheese doesn't leave in California or he might go off and teach Moody a 4th chord.

I have not been on the OFC for quite some time and see that you have not been well. I hope that you are recovering and will be fully fit soon. I trust the the Kent hospital you were in looked after you. Was it Ashford ?

I had to send my first Ovation back to Horsby Skews for a set up. It turned out that the neck was twisted and it was replaced. They set up my 1778 LX, but with a high action, which I have now removed all the shims.

It must be a joke ... G to Am can't possibly be mastered in six short weeks. You've got to practice moving your fingers to different frets AND different strings. I say no way ... they've added Am through studio trickery.
