Today, I bought my first Ovation. I meticulously researched and played several different brands of acoustic/electric guitars and out of curiosity, picked up an Ovation 1778T Elite model. I instantly fell in love with it's playability and tone. I've never even considered owning an Ovation until that day. After I got home, I jumped on the internet to read reviews from picky guitar players. To my surprise, I found no bad reviews of this model and most of the stories were a lot like mine. People who have always played other brands being seduced to Ovation guitars through this particular model. 4 days later, I made the purchase and couldn't be happier. It didn't cost me an arm and a leg and is genuinely the sweetest sounding guitar I've ever played. My band, Folk Sing Bright, ( www.myspace.com/folksingbright ) are entering the studio next Sunday to record a new EP. All songs will feature my 1778T. I will post these songs at the above website so everyone can hear how good this guitar sounds...
God Bless,
Caleb |

I read stories like yours and I get a big smile and remember the first time I played my 1778T. You are right on every count - it is an extraordinary instrument. I have talked about it with Kim Keller in the service department at Ovation and he said that when they made the first one and passed it around for everyone to check out, no one believed how good it sounded and how easily it played, especially for what it sells for. You made an excellent choice for your first Ovation.
Now that you have been bitten, let me entice you into trying out a 6778LX in a lovely New England Burst. :D I have one of those too and it is hard to decide which one I'd like to play on any given day. Here's wishing you many years of OGAS - Ovation Guitar Acquisition Syndrome! Welcome to the board and the nicest bunch of guitar enthusiasts in the world. |

Welcome to the ranks of Ovation owners and also to the fan club.
It's great to have another Oklahoma fan club member. I live about 100 miles south of you and also have a 1778T and enjoy it.
I like "Man of Steel" |

| I am happy you found no bad reviews on the internet! They are out there. There are a lot of people who don't know anything about anything on the internet. You'll see.... there's a few of them in here!
Enjoy!

I just looked and realised you have already participated in over 100 posts....very cool.
Seems like when you first came on the board you were looking to acquire a Breadwinner or something like that (or wanted to compare it to your Viper..can't really remember). |

Since then, I've learned a LOT more about Ovation Electrics and Acoustics.
I still would like a Breadwinner/Deacon, but there are some other things I'd like, so I'm prioritizing (sp?). |

Welcome to the Board. Along with Noel, I think we now have three Okies here. Thanks for the link to your music, I definitely plan to catch one of your upcoming shows.
Cheers,

Welcome to the board and congrats on purchasing a really good guitar for the money, and even better -- an Ovation.
At least there is something to celebrate in 'Sooner territory after the gridiron debacle this weekend past. |

I know of three more Okies that are part of the fan club, my son in Yukon, another in Tulsa, and another I tried to pm but never got a response.
Paul, you may be right, this is probably going to be a rebuilding year for the Sooners. |

Sorry.... I forgot about your son Gregg. Did he ever buy that S778?
As for the Sooners, I think Stoops has been a blessing for the team and since I'm a Missouri grad I'm used to disappointment ;)
Sorry to get off topic Caleb....
Cheers,

Yes, Gregg bought the S778, it was like new. Sounds great, I think they are coming to visit this weekend, look forward to some father/son guitar time. He used to play bass for our band, we have never played guitars together. |

We just finished recording our new ep (with my new Ovation friend) and I could not believe how good it sounded. As soon as we get it mastered, It will be up on our site, so I hope you all will come visit us. Thanks so much for all the greetings. This is probably the nicest message board I've ever been a part of...

I'd rather be home asleep. Of course, if I was home, I'd probably find something I needed to do.
I'll try not to be so cranky, ok? Now, get off my back!
oopsy. heh, heh, sorry. |

That will calm you down a bit! |

| Nice choice and congrats - from a recently joined member with a brand "new" used 1861 Balladeer - the sound is so good, I can't help but wonder what an Elite with a mid bowl would sound like! |
