After all the glowing reviews of the factory service, I went ahead and sent my 1681 off to get some cosmetic issues addressed.

The binding around the body had been chipped, the fretboard was stained (naptha didn't do much or I wasn't aggressive enough with the steel wool), there was a dent in the back of the neck, and rebuild of the electronics.

So, it is on its way. Looking forward to getting it back.

Maybe cwk will even sign it.... :D

It "kicks in" at the back end . .

I will have to add that every guitar I have sent back to the mothership has come back so incredible that in some cases I could not believe it was the same guitar I sent in.

At the prices they repair things, someone would be foolish to have a repair done locally.

Stephent28: I've got a couple days of "relative" inactivity before I send the unknown slothead up to the mothership for them to get to know it. Contact me at Elginacres@aol.com - if you want to see it before it and I head to the slothead reunion...who knows what shape it might be in after that event. We mentioned getting the Colorado connection together. Just let me know...

So, irrelevant of Jeff being a (insert many possibilities here), how do we get this thread back to the topic of Bill signing my guitar and the $2.00 payoff??

Tommy, I doubt Bill's gonna part with $2 just to sign your guitar.

Ok, got the report from Kim. Needs a neck reset. Fingerboard popped off the top. While its there, gonna put in an OpPro with XLR, level/dress the frets, repair the bowl ring.

4 weeks to repair. Start the clock.

Big Money,
Try not to watch for the water to boil. They will get it done in the time estimated...

My advice, find some other nice short term vice to devert your attention...

I hear Franklin Mint Elvis plates are da bomb.

I have the Custom Elite with intonation problem to hold me over. Also got my eye on a Mellinnium if the 1681 takes too long.

No Elvis plates for me. I'm sticking with NASCAR plates. They hide the ketchup stains better.

If Bill was to sign your guitar it's resale value wouldn't increase until his "untimely demise".

BILL... DON'T SIGN IT!!!

Oh, come on! I offered to pay him for it. $2.00 is almost a gallon, er, half gallon, well... some gas!
