| I have an Ovation with a 6-digit number on it and that's it. I know by the number it was made in 1979 but how do I find out more about it? Thanks!! |

If not describe the guitar. Are the tuners gold, chrome or black/chrome? Is there binding on the neck? Describe the type of fretboard markers. Any electronics? |

| I can't post a picture. I just looked at the e-bay site and it looks like a Legend that's there only not as fancy - it has a pickup but only a volume knob. It doesn't have a sticker on the inside, only the serial number. It has chrome tuners and diamond-shaped pearl inlays on the fretboard.

| Maybe - I wish I knew. It doesn't have a pre-amp, only a volume knob. ???

Location: Carle Place, NY | Sounds like a 1612 Custom Balladeer. Does it look this this?

Note-no binding on the neck. |

| It looks almost exactly like the one you linked to, only it has that volume know and a plug-in. What is a TRC? |

| It looks just like the one that Jailhouse linked to. The only difference is mine doesn't have that black decorative plate-thingy on the head of the guitar, and it doesn't have the stripe at the top either. It does have a piece knocked off the top corner of the head (:-) Why it took me so long to figure out I need a smaller guitar is anyone's guess ..... |

| Yeah, it doesn't have a TRC, or a black decorative plate-thingy or anything. But otherwise (& w/out the stripe), it looks just like the
1612 Custom Balladeer that Jailhouse linked to. |

Your guitar is a 1612 Custom Balladeer. Yours is a newer model than the one I linked to. It has a two piece neck instead of the five piece neck (the "stripe" at the top of the headstock shows the five pieces of wood bonded together); however it has the newer Kaman bar in the neck instead of the original truss rod.
Nice guitar. I had one until about a year ago. |

| Thanks everyone for the info & education! Jailhouse, why did you get rid of it?

Location: Carle Place, NY | I had two deep bowl Ovations already, a Custom Legend 1619 and a 1537 Elite. No room or need for the 1612.
Also, I listed and sold it via this forum. The lady that bought it got it as a gift for her father for his 50th B-day. Apparently he had a 1612 years before that got damaged. So it went to a good, deserving guitarist. |
