I've owned my '82 #1619 Custom Legend since '85. It has a Kaman bar with the adjustment at the root of the neck, so no truss rod cover.

I've just been told of a similar #1619 for sale, and I see that it has a 'carved' truss rod cover.

Which models/years had Kaman Bars and which had truss rods, or what was the determining factor?

Thanks,

Mark

Seems like someone held forth on this subject recently, but I'm not having any luck finding it with search. K-Bars were introduced on Adamas in 76, I think 82/83 was the phase-in time for the Ovations, starting with the Customs.
I'm sure Moody will tell me if I'm wrong.

I think around '80 or so was when the k-bar neck started creeping into the line. But it didn't happen overnight or on all models at the same time. Dave

Adamas wasn't till 78. After the slotheads. The first were the Balladeers and then legends (78-79ish?). Custom Legend was probably one of the last to get it so it might be a year or two behind.

Oops. Sorry, Bill. I misread, only players and select dealers got protos in 76. Aside from that I only got everything else backwards.

No problem, it's not your fault. If Cliff hadn't been fooling with that poto shop thing the picture would have been clearer.
And besides, I don't always get all this stuff right either. (It sure is a bitch rewriting history to agree with todays misstatements.)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the Custom Legends got the K-bars circa 82-83. I had an '83 that had a K-bar, and most, if not all, of the '82's I've run across have had truss rods.
