On several custom legends, I saw that the binding is missing, where the fingerboard is shaped like the gibson headstock.
Is that normal on some models? or is it just that it lifts off easyly over the years?

Location: SoCal | sounds like you are referring to what they call the "butterfly", the binding at the centerhole.
suggest you check with Kim or John, Customer Service, at the factory. | |
